For years, Buick is trying very hard to be seen as a premium brand in the eyes of car lovers. With the upcoming 2021 Buick Envision, it looks like they will finally manage to achieve this. Simply, the new model looks very promising, at least on the photos, since the premiere is still months away from us. The new model will replace the current generation, which has been around since 2014 and which doesn’t sell particularly well in North America. On the other side, both models will be on sale in China.
From what we know so far, the 2021 Buick Envision redesign will bring a lot of novelties. Of course, the focus is currently on the styling. From what we can see on rendering photos, the new model looks really amazing. The latest reports suggest that the interior will be as impressive. Furthermore, you may count on a new platform, as well as on changes under the hood. Naturally, the new model will also bring loads of advanced tech goodies.
2021 Buick Envision Design
The upcoming redesign is about to bring loads of novelties. From what we know so far, the new model will ride on the company’s familiar E2 platform. Considering that Opel is no more part of General Motors, Buick has turned to Cadillac and other GM brands but we presume that most design solutions will be borrowed from the XT4. Besides improved ride quality, this also means changes in size. We still don’t know details about 2021 Buick Envision dimensions, but the new model should gain 1.1 inches in wheelbase. On the other side, we are pretty sure that the new Envision will feature bigger overall dimensions than the XT4. More details should be known soon. Although bigger, the new model will also be lighter, as the new platform utilizes lots of lightweight materials.
Exterior
The new 2021 Buick Envision will be bigger and lighter, but the new styling looks far more important in this case. The outgoing model doesn’t look particularly attractive and that’s one of the main reasons why it’s hard to see it as a premium crossover. Things are significantly different with the upcoming version. The new model brings a completely different aesthetical approach from everything we’ve seen from this brand so far and we believe this is the new design language, which will be used for all Buick models in the future.
The easiest way to describe the new styling is that talk about all those sharp lines. While some previous Buick models were pretty curvy, this one is 100% contemporary and utilizes loads of sharp angles. The grille looks familiar, but headlights and bumper come with more edges and pretty dynamic, sporty shapes. The rest of the crossover continues in the same manner, so we can say that this model is finally ready to be considered a premium model and compete with models like Lincoln Corsair, Acura RDX, Infiniti QX50, Lexus NX etc.
Interior
As we already mentioned, the first interior photos appeared recently. From what we can see, the new cabin will be a significant departure from the previous version. Everything looks far more upscale, while we particularly like the fact that the dashboard, besides significantly improved quality and comes with a driver-oriented layout. Everything is pointed to the driver, including a new infotainment screen, which probably measures around 10 inches diagonally. Another thing you may notice is that the old gear level has been replaced with a new electric selector, which also makes everything look more upscale.
When it comes to the 2021 Buick Envision interior dimensions, it is still early to talk about exact numbers. Still, we count on a little bit more legroom than before, as well as on more cargo volume, which is current decent but not exactly among class leaders.
2021 Buick Envision Engines
In terms of 2021 Buick Envision specs, the thing we definitely know is that the currently base 2.5-liter four-cylinder unit. On the other side, the turbo-four will certainly remain in the offer. However, we still don’t know if Buick is about to use the old or newer version of the engine. The current generation uses the version with 252 horsepower, while models like XT4 use variants that are more focused on efficiency, so a max output goes around 237 horsepower. In any case, you may count on a familiar 9-speed automatic transmission, which will send power to front wheels in base versions, while the AWD layout will be optional.
2021 Buick Envision Release Date and Price
According to the latest reports, the 2021 Buick Envision release date will be scheduled for the next winter. Does this mean late 2020 or early 2021, it’s still hard to say. When it comes to the price, we count on a notable increase. Sources like Car and Driver suggest a starting price of around 38.000 dollars.
