2021 Cadillac XT6 Update: Engines, Premium, Specs, Price

The XT6 may be a pretty fresh vehicle on the market but the company already prepares some nice updates. While the original model has been launched just a year ago, the second production year will bring novelties as well. The 2021 Cadillac XT6 changes will include a new engine, new trim level and a few more interesting changes. One of the big novelties is also the fact that the base price will be notably lower compared to the current model, due to a new engine and entry-level trim.

On the other side, the base layout will remain the same. You may count on the same overall design, as mechanics and aesthetics won’t change. This is a mid-size luxury crossover, which competes with models like Acura MDX, Audi Q7, BMW X5 and similar vehicles. Despite the novelties, the 2021 Cadillac XT6 release date won’t be much earlier than usual. We expect to see it this fall.

What’s New For 2021 Cadillac XT6?

The 2021 Cadillac XT6 is coming with a nice number of novelties, despite the fact that it will represent the second production year. From what we know so far, the biggest novelties will be additions of a new engine and new entry-level trim. When it comes to the engine, the company will offer a new version of a familiar turbo-four unit, which will be used for base models. Along with the new trim level, it will affect the starting price, which will be significantly lower now. Speaking of the new trim, it will be called Luxury and it will be slotted below Premium Luxury variants. As you may presume, it will come with a shorter list of standard equipment, though you may count on goodies like an 8-inch touchscreen, three-zone climate control, heated front seats, power tailgate and similar things.

When it comes to the rest of the novelties, we should mention that all models will come standard with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration. Also, the range-topping 2021 Cadillac XT6 Sport will be available with new 21-inch wheels.

2021 Cadillac XT6 Design

While the list of novelties seems pretty long for a second production year, the fact is that most of the things are about to remain the same. The 2021 Cadillac XT6 will carry on with a similar design, which is based on GM’s well-known C1 platform. In terms of size, the XT6 has most in common with GMC Acadia, as both models feature around 112.7 inches in wheelbase. Mechanically, this model comes with a couple of upgrades, especially in terms of suspension, in order to provide a premium driving experience.

When it comes to styling, the next year won’t bring anything in particular. This is still a pretty fresh model, so there is really no need for bigger aesthetical modifications. The XT6 already follows the brand’s latest design language, based on the Escala concept.

Interior

The 2021 Cadillac XT6 interior will have a lot of good things to offer. First of all, it offers three spacious rows of seats, where even the third row accommodates adult passengers relatively easily. That’s something you won’t find in many three-row crossovers, especially those premium ones. On the other side, the cargo area isn’t that generous with space. You may count on just around 12.6 cubic feet behind the third row, while the overall cargo volume goes up to 78.7 cubic feet.

When it comes to the overall interior quality, everything is at a pretty high level. The dashboard looks attractive, while most materials are soft to the touch. Still, we have to say that many rivals look more opulent from the inside.

2021 Cadillac XT6 Engines

Under the hood, the 2021 Cadillac XT6 comes with big novelties. Of course, we are talking about a new turbo-four option, which will be reserved for the entry-level Luxury trim. We are talking about a new version of a familiar 2.0-liter turbo-four engine, which is good for about 237 horsepower. That’s less power compared to the previous version of the engine, but the company claims higher mpg ratings.

On the other side, the well-known 3.6-liter V6 continues in the same way. It delivers around 310 horsepower, which is a pretty sufficient amount of power that ensures pretty respectable driving dynamics. At the same time, mpg ratings are quite decent. With this engine, the 2021 Cadillac XT6 will be able to return around 18 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway.

Both engines will come in a couple with a familiar 9-speed automatic gearbox.

We expect that the new version will hit the market this fall. When it comes to the 2021 Cadillac XT6 price, it will be notably lower compared to the current model. Base models should go around 49.000 dollars.
