2021 Hyundai Palisade Gets New Range-Topping Version

The last year’s launch of the Palisade amazed the automotive world with its quality and features and it instantly established itself as one of the best mid-size SUVs on the market. Therefore, it seems quite logical to see no bigger changes for the second production year. Still, that doesn’t mean a lack of any novelty. The 2021 Hyundai Palisade changes are small but very notable. Of course, most of them are in terms of new features but by far the most important one is the introduction of a new range-topping model, called Calligraphy. This one brings even more features and makes everything look even more luxurious.

Still, the overall layout remains the same. The next-year model will continue with a familiar layout, which brings an amazing balance between price and quality, plenty of passenger and cargo space, along with a refined ride quality that combines a powerful V6 engine with a soft suspension setup. When it comes to the 2021 Hyundai Palisade release date, the new model is already available at most markets.

2021 Hyundai Palisade Changes

The list of novelties for the second production year is pretty interesting and the 2021 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy is by far the most important one. This is a new range-topping trim level, which comes with lots of exclusivities, whether it’s about styling or features. Of course, it’s mostly about making everything more luxurious. So, it’s no wonder that the exterior is characterized by unique exterior lighting elements, boldly-designed 20-inch wheels, a distinct grille finish and similar things you won’t find in other Palisade models. On the inside, you may count on upgrades like a faux-suede headliner, quilted-leather upholstery on the doors and seats, and a perforated leather wrap on the steering wheel.

Other than the new Calligraphy trim, things have remained pretty much the same, though there are revisions in terms of availability of features. For example, things like a 10.3-inch infotainment display, in-dash navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio and similar things are now available in lower-grade models as well.

2021 Hyundai Palisade Design

While there are some pretty interesting novelties in terms of standard equipment, the overall design remains the same. That sounds perfectly fine, considering that we are talking about the second production year. This is the biggest crossover we’ve ever seen from the Korean carmaker, which shares mechanics with another amazing newcomer, Kia Telluride. The two models share dimensions, engine and many other things, though each model comes with its different flavor and a decent level of personality.

The styling of this crossover looks pretty amazing, but we particularly like the suspension setup and overall ride quality. This model is definitely on the comfort side and provides an extremely smooth ride. The comfort is impressive, though this also means that the Palisade suffers from more body roll in corners compared to some rivals, particularly models like Mazda CX-9.

Interior

The cabin design is definitely one of the strongest points of this large SUV. First of all, the overall quality is at a very high level, especially if we consider the price tag. Soft and fine materials are all around the cabin, while aesthetics are really amazing too. Such a combination ensures that premium feel we’ve used to see in much more expensive cars. The list of standard and available equipment is really impressive and it makes everything look even more opulent.

2021 Hyundai Palisade Interior

Besides the amazing look and build quality, another thing we really like about this model is the amount of space. This crossover comes with three really spacious rows of seats and accommodates up to eight passengers. That’s a rare thing among mid-size SUVs. Of course, you can always trade the second row bench for captain’s chairs, which takes comfort to the next level but reduces the capacity to seven. The cargo area is as impressive. You may count on about 18 cubic feet of cargo space behind its third-row seats, 45.8 cubic feet with these seats folded, and 86.4 cubic feet with the second and third rows folded. Those are above-average numbers for the class.

2021 Hyundai Palisade Engine

Things under the hood have remained the same for the second production year. You may count on a familiar 3.8-liter V6 engine, which features a max output of 291 horsepower. That is more than enough for a convenient ride and solid acceleration. The power is sent through a smooth-shifting 8-speed automatic transmission, which does the job pretty well.

When it comes to fuel economy, you may count on about 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. Those are pretty much typical ratings for the class. If you wonder about the 2021 Hyundai Palisade max towing rating, it goes up to 5.000 pounds.

2021 Hyundai Palisade Pricing

When it comes to the 2021 Hyundai Palisade price, base models are available at 33.700 dollars. The new Calligraphy trim stats around 49.000 dollars. When it comes to the competition, some of the key players in the segment are models like Toyota Highlander, Ford Explorer, Mazda CX-9 etc.
