2021 Hyundai Tucson Redesign: Everything We Know So Far

The Korean compact crossover competes in the most demanding segment of today’s automotive industry. The number is quality models in this class is impressive, so there is no doubt that the upcoming design is about to bring a lot of interesting novelties. Simply, the new 2021 Hyundai Tucson will have to be much better than the current model if the company wants to keep it competitive in the segment where some of the biggest fishes are models like Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, Nissan Rogue etc.

The testing model has been spotted a couple of times and although it still wears almost complete camouflage, we already know some of the details about the new model. Of course, the new styling is coming. Still, the new Tucson will also bring significant improvements in terms of interior quality, driving experience, comfort etc. Also, we count on a completely new engine lineup, as both engines from the current lineup will probably be dropped. The Korean manufacturer won’t rush with the new model. So, we don’t expect that the 2021 Hyundai Tucson release date will happen any earlier that the last quarter of 2020.

2021 Hyundai Tucson Redesign

When it comes to the 2021 Hyundai Tucson redesign, one of the first things that come to mind is the styling. The testing model has been on the street a couple of times. Although we’ve noticed a little bit less camouflage last time we saw it, it still hides most of its styling. Moreover, there are just a couple of things we can see on the test mule and even these areas aren’t entirely visible.

Obviously, the part that draws the most attention is the front end. From what can we see, the new model won’t go too far from the HDC-2 Concept, which had a premiere not so long ago. In practice, this means a much bolder look compared to the outgoing model, while another thing that comes to mind is that large grille at the front and front lighting that is divided into two groups. That would be something similar to what we’ve already seen in the new Santa Fe. Still, there is no doubt that the new Tucson will come with a plethora of exclusive details as well.

An interesting thing is that, despite the bolder styling, the new model doesn’t look any bigger than its predecessor. Although the exact specs are still unavailable, the 2021 Hyundai Tucson spy shots show that the new model will keep similar dimensions. Of course, it may be slightly bigger, but these changes will be minimal. To remind you, the current model measures around 105 inches in wheelbase, while the overall length goes up to 176.2 inches.

Interior

Despite that the test model has been around for some time, we haven’t managed to see any interior detail, so the cabin currently seems like a bit of a mystery. Therefore, we can only speculate about the dashboard. The new models like Santa Fe, Palisade and the most recent Sonata, seem like the right direction to look at. The former will probably have the most similarities with the new crossover, particularly in the center stack and instrument cluster, where we count on the same or very similar design approach. Of course, we also count on notable improvements in terms of materials and overall quality.

Given that the new model won’t be much bigger, we may presume that the new 2021 Hyundai Tucson interior will feature a similar amount, with slight improvements only. The amounts of legroom will remain similar, though we should see a little bit more space in the cargo area.

2021 Hyundai Tucson Engines

This is one of the weakest aspects of the current model, which comes with two lackluster engine options in the offer. Therefore, we count on big changes for the next year. Both engines will be dropped and replaced. Also, the latest reports suggest that the new 2021 Hyundai Tucson will come with a new 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine in the base version. this engine puts out around 191 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque. Of course, higher trims will come with some turbocharged engine. That may be a 1.6-liter unit, though we thing a 2.0-liter turbo-four would be a far better choice. Finally, the 2021 Hyundai Tucson N has been in the conversation as well. This one would probably come with a new 2.5-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 290 horsepower.

An electrified version should also come, though we don’t believe it will be ready for the initial launch.

2021 Hyundai Tucson Release Date and Price

We expect to see the new model sometime in the last quarter of the year. When it comes to the 2021 Hyundai Tucson price, it will probably be higher compared to the current model, which starts at 23.500 dollars. The model will probably feature base price of around 25.000 dollars.
