2021 Kia Sportage Specs and Features

The Korean manufacturer came up with various interesting novelties in the last couple of years but the popular compact crossover will remain in the same form for a couple of more years. After the last-year refresh, the new model is about to carry on in the current layout for a couple of more years. Those are the latest reports we are getting from our reliable sources and those reports make perfect sense, considering that the recent refresh has brought new styling, new interior features, more safety systems etc. So, the best we can see from the 2021 Kia Sportage are additions in terms of the standard equipment.

This means you may count on a crossover that has a lot of great things to offer, starting from composed handling and lots of standard equipment. Moreover, the cabin is quite roomy, while the sound insulation is nice. Given the lack of more important changes, we don’t expect to see the 2021 Kia Sportage release date scheduled for any earlier than the last quarter of the year.

2021 Kia Sportage Design

Despite that, some sources suggest 2021 Kia Sportage redesign, this aspect definitely won’t bring any particular change for the next year. The current generation has been around for some time, but we’ve already seen a mid-cycle update last year, which has brought several interesting changes. Of course, we saw a couple of styling updates, all of them were pretty modest. Simply, the Korean manufacturer is quite conservative with mid-cycle updates in the last couple of years, so it’s no wonder that the front end has remained largely the same. Moreover, we saw just a couple of tweaks, mostly on the bumper, which has been reshaped and now features bigger air intakes and different fog lights. Furthermore, there are new headlights, though the shape has remained the same. The rear end also came with minor changes only. If you’re looking for something really fresh, the corporal sibling, Hyundai Tucson, is coming all-new for the next year.

Interior

The recent update hasn’t included any particular interior change, so there is a familiar dashboard layout, which probably isn’t the most attractive in the class, but looks more than decent. Moreover, you can get some pretty amazing materials in higher trim levels, which make this cabin look really luxurious. The same thing goes for the rest of the cabin.

2021 Kia Sportage Interior

Besides the attractive look, this cabin is also spacious. The 2021 Kia Sportage interior will continue in the same way, with two pretty generous rows of seats, which accommodate adult passengers with ease. On the other side, things aren’t that great when it comes to cargo volume. You may count on about 30 cubic feet behind the second row, while the overall cargo space goes around 60 cubic feet. These are below-average ratings for the class. However, the area is quite functional, as you may count on the adjustable floor and an available power liftgate, while rear seats fold completely flat.

Features

The recent update has brought a couple of interesting novelties in terms of standard equipment, such as a new 8-inch touchscreen, more safety systems, and similar things. That’s why we don’t expect too many novelties for the next year, though there is a chance to see a couple of additions. Still, most of the things are about to remain the same. So, expect base models equipped with goodies like an 8-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a six-speaker sound system, Bluetooth etc. Higher trims will offer goodies like navigation, satellite radio, premium audio system, wireless charging and more.

When it comes to safety features,  you may count on things like a driver attention monitor, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, a rearview camera, automatic high beams, and a pre-collision warning and braking system with pedestrian detection. Additionally, you may get blind-spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert are available, as are front and rear parking sensors and adaptive cruise control.

2021 Kia Sportage Engines

When it comes to the powertrain lineup, we definitely won’t see changes in the 2021 Kia Sportage. Therefore, base models will continue with a familiar 2.4-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine, which puts out around 181 horsepower. When it comes to fuel economy, you may count on about 22 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway, which are slightly below-average numbers for the class.

On the other side, higher trims will come with a 2.0-liter turbo-four, which features a max output of 240 horsepower. This one returns around 20 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. Both engines come in pair with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

2021 Kia Sportage Release Date and Price

Given the lack of changes, we are pretty sure that this model won’t hit the market before the last quarter of the year. When it comes to the 2021 Kia Sportage, base models should go around 24.000 dollars.
