2021 Nissan Paladin Navara Truck-Based SUV

It looks like traditional body-on-frame pickup trucks are back in the game again. After years of crossover domination and just a couple of truck-based SUVs on the market, many believed that this segment will be completely dead in just a couple of years. However, many drivers disagree with that, as they primarily need capable vehicles and not those that just look like that. Therefore, the market of traditional SUVs is once again getting strong. The legendary Ford Bronco came back, the iconic Wrangler was redesigned a couple of years ago, while we are also waiting for the next-generation Toyota 4Runner. These days, it looks like we are about to get another competitor in the class, in the form of 2021 Nissan Paladin. The new SUV from the Japanese manufacturer is expected to arrive sometime in the next year.

At this point, we don’t know too much about the 2021 Nissan Paladin. Still, we know for sure it will come as a genuine, BoF SUV, which will offer excellent off-road and working capabilities. Most likely, it will be based on the well-known Navara pickup, just like the upcoming next-generation Frontier.

2021 Nissan Paladin Design

In terms of base design characteristics, there is one thing that is completely certain. That would be the platform. Unlike most other Nissan SUVs, this one will ride on a genuine body-on-frame platform. Of course, that would be the company’s well-known F-Alpha platform, which already underprints a plethora of Nissan models. Of course, we will see the updated version of the architecture and the new 2021 Nissan Paladin will probably have most things in common with Navara, which has been sold all around the world, except for North America. The two models won’t share just mechanics, but also many aesthetical solutions.

Exterior

When it comes to the exterior design, one of the first things that come to mind is the size of this SUV. According to our reliable sources, this will be a mid-size SUV, which means it will primarily compete with Toyota 4Runner, which still makes some pretty impressive sales numbers, even though it desperately needs a redesign. That would probably mean somewhere between 112 and 115 inches in wheelbase, which indicates three rows of seats as well.

2021 Nissan Paladin release date

When it comes to the styling, we presume that the front face will look quite similar to Navara, while some details will certainly be shared with the upcoming next-generation Frontier as well. Still, count on a lot of exclusive details as well. The rest of the body is about to come in a typical SUV manner. Count on a boxy shape, with lots of sharp and angular aesthetical solutions.

Interior

On the inside, one of the things that come to mind first is seating capacity. Given the size and segment, we have no doubt that the new 2021 Nissan Paladin will come with three rows of seats. That would make it not just highly capable, but also very practical. Of course, the first two rows would be spacious, while the third one would rather be designed to accommodate adults in shorter journeys. The cargo area should also offer some respectable numbers.

When it comes to the dashboard, we presume it will rather be practical that stylish. Still, that doesn’t mean it won’t look attractive and feature quality materials. There is no doubt that it will look more upscale compared to its truck siblings. Also, we count on a full load of standard and optional equipment, which should include all kinds of hi-tech features and advanced safety systems. More details should be known in the near future.

2021 Nissan Paladin Engine

This is one of the rare things we can say we are 100% sure about it. The Japanese manufacturer already introduced a new engine, which will power a plethora of next-generation BoF vehicles. The 2021 Nissan Paladin won’t be an exception for sure. Of course, we are talking about a new 3.8-liter V6 engine, which already debuted in the outgoing current-generation Frontier. The new engine features a max output of 310 horsepower and 281 pound-feet of torque, which seems like a more than sufficient amount of power for a vehicle of this type. Also, there is a new 9-speed automatic transmission, which will certainly have a positive impact on fuel economy and ride quality.

At this point, we don’t have any information about the possible electrified version.
