2021 Porsche Cayenne Gets GTS Version

For most car enthusiasts who are looking for an SUV with a sports car’s DNA, this is certainly one of the dream cars. This crossover perfectly combines SUV shape with performances and offers unparalleled driving experience in the class, not just because of the impressive powertrain lineup, but also because of the finest chassis in the segment. The current generation has been around for about three years and the next-year model brings a couple of interesting novelties, starting from the 2021 Porsche Cayenne GTS.

Besides the return of the hi-performance version, the next year’s model also comes with some shuffling in terms of standard equipment. Novelties are particularly important for the 2021 Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid, which comes with a bigger battery pack, which in practice means longer EV range. The rest of the crossover remains the same and that includes the offer of two body styles, classic SUV and Coupe.

The 2021 Porsche Cayenne remains largely unchanged.

2021 Porsche Cayenne Design

When it comes to base design characteristics, the 2021 Porsche Cayenne comes without more important changes. It continues to ride on VW’s familiar MLB architecture, which is shared with a plethora of other luxury crossovers, including Audi Q8, Lamborghini Urus, Bentley Bentayga, etc. Still, this particular model comes with one crucial difference and that’s the suspension setup. It comes directly from Porsche and it has a genuine sports car DNA, as many components have been directly borrowed from the legendary 911 model.

As a result, you may count on the best handling and driving experience in the class. Also, you may count on Porsche’s typical styling approach. The German manufacturer continues with its super-conservative approach, which comes in two layouts, as a classic SUV or as a coupe.

Of course, the new GTS model comes with several upgrades. Besides the engine, the chassis and suspension have been retuned, while the styling comes with several details that accentuate the model’s hi-performance character.

Interior

The 2021 Porsche Cayenne interior comes without any particular change. You may count on a familiar cabin layout, which combines high-quality materials with a classic sports car layout. The dashboard is driver-oriented, while lots of physical controls have been kept as well. Still, there is also a large infotainment screen at the center stack, as well as a plethora of digital commands. The driving position is excellent, while the visibility is pretty good in all directions.

When it comes to the interior space, both versions offer a fair amount of passenger space. Still, the coupe version may feel a little bit tighter in terms of headroom, due to the sloping roof. The same thing is with the cargo area. The standard model is good for about 27.2 cubic feet behind the second row and 63.5 cubic feet of the overall volume. The coupe is tighter and offers around 22 cubic feet behind the second row and 54.3 cubic feet of the overall volume.

Features

When it comes to standard equipment, every model comes with things like dual-zone climate control,  a 12.3-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, a navigation system, Bluetooth, four USB ports, satellite radio, and a 10-speaker stereo. Additionally, you can get goodies like a rear-seat entertainment system with dual 10-inch touch screens, wireless device charging, a 14-speaker Bose stereo, and a 21-speaker Burmester surround-sound system, as well as a panoramic roof, quad-zone climate control etc.

In terms of safety, the only things you get standard are a rearview camera and parking sensors. Fortunately, there are numerous options, including lane keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise controls, head-up display and many more.

2021 Porsche Cayenne Engines

Without any doubt, the biggest novelty is the comeback of the famous GTS model. This is the second most capable Cayenne you can get, which comes with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, which is good for about 460 horsepower.

The rest of the lineup continues in the same way. So, base models are equipped with a familiar 3.0-liter V6, which is good for about 335 horsepower. Of course, you can also get Porsche’s well-known 2.9-liter V6, which puts out around 434 horses. Finally, there is the Cayenne Turbo, equipped with a twin-turbo V8 engine and a total output of 541 horsepower and 561 pound-feet of torque.

You can also get a hybrid version, which is based on a 3.0-liter V6, which features a total output of 455 horsepower and now comes with a bigger, 17.9-kWh battery pack.
