After several years of break, the Japanese manufacturer decided to bring back a familiar nameplate, in the form of the 2021 Toyota Venza. This is an all-new model and it actually doesn’t have too many things in common with the original. While the previous generation was rather a station wagon than a crossover, the new model comes designed in a typical SUV manner. The new model is heavily based on the Japanese SUV called Harrier, which is quite luxurious. So, the new Venza definitely benefits from that.
There are several things to like about this crossover. First of all, there is an impressive styling, which doesn’t actually have too many things in common with other Toyota models in North America. Also, the interior looks very luxurious, more premium compared to models like RAV4 and Highlander.
However, this SUV isn’t without flaws. It isn’t particularly spacious, while the hybrid is the only powertrain in the offer.
2021 Toyota Venza Design
In terms of base design characteristics, the new model is pretty much a renamed version of the model called Harrier. This nameplate has been active in Japan for a quite long time and the thing we like about it is that we finally have a chance to see a Toyota with the look that has been designed for the Japanese drivers. Therefore, there is a lot of crazy lines and styling that doesn’t have too much in common with the rest of Toyota’s North American lineup.
The styling looks really interesting, but things under the skin are rather typical. This model rides on the new TNGA platform and you may count on about 106 inches in wheelbase. That’s not particularly long for a mid-size crossover, so an obvious consequence is lack of interior space, but we will get on that in a moment. On the other side, we really like the ride quality, which is relaxed and cushioned.
The 2021 Toyota Venza interior is a kinda mixed bag, according to most critics. When it comes to good things, we definitely like the look and overall quality. The first thing that you’ll notice is the quality of materials, which is at quite an impressive level. Moreover, some areas look like they have been directly borrowed from Lexus models. Visually, you may count on a lot of resemblance with models like RAV4, though everything seems more upscale. The driving position is excellent, while the seats are some of the nicest in the class.
When it comes to things, the biggest complaint goes to the interior space. While the front seats are spacious and very comfortable, the second row isn’t that generous as in some other mid-size SUVs. Still, we can say that adults can enjoy a comfortable ride in it. The cargo area is relatively small for the segment and goes around 28.7 cubic feet behind the second row and 55 cubic feet of the overall cargo volume.
When it comes to 2021 Toyota Venza features, the list of standard equipment is pretty long. It includes things like dual-zone climate control, wireless control, an 8-inch touch screen, six speakers, satellite radio, HD Radio, Bluetooth, four USB ports, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. Additionally, you can get things like a 12.3-inch touch screen, navigation, JBL audio system, glass panoramic sunroof etc.
In terms of safety, this model is pretty impressive. All models come standard with a rearview camera, forward collision warning, blind spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, rear cross traffic alert, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, lane departure warning, lane centering assist and many more. Additionally, you can get things like a head-up display, surround-view camera system, front and rear parking sensors etc.
2021 Toyota Venza Powertrain
The 2021 Toyota Venza comes with just one powertrain option in the offer, and that would be a hybrid one. We are talking about the same system you can find in the RAV4. This means a combination of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors, for a total output of 219 horsepower. Obviously, this isn’t the amount of power that promises some spectacular driving dynamics, but it definitely gets the job done.
The biggest benefit of this powertrain is fuel economy. The 2021 Toyota Venza fuel economy goes around 40 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway. Those are pretty good ratings, especially for a mid-size SUV.
2021 Toyota Venza Release Date and Price
The new model already arrived in North America. When it comes to the 2021 Toyota Venza Hybrid price, base models go around 33.000 dollars. Some of the potential rivals are models like Hyundai Santa Fe, Honda Passport, Ford Edge etc.
