Therefore, it’s no wonder that the 2022 Acura RDX is coming with big updates. We are about to see a mid-cycle update, despite that the current generation has been around for less than three years. The testing model has already been spotted and we expect to see a typical facelift. Other than visual updates, we might see a few changes on the inside, while rumors about a hybrid version can be heard as well.

2022 Acura RDX Facelift
As we already mentioned, the test mule of the 2022 Acura RDX has already been on the road. It wears a camouflage, so we can’t go too much into details. However, the covered areas clearly indicate where to expect changes. Naturally, most of them will happen at the front. Still, keep in mind that the current model already looks pretty attractive and follows the brand’s design language almost entirely. So, the best we could see are things like a new bumper, new grille pattern etc.
On the rear end, we expect to see a new bumper. Furthermore, we can already see a new exhaust system, which now utilizes rectangular exhaust pipes, which wasn’t the case before. Naturally, we should see other typical mid-cycle updates, such as new color options, new wheels etc.
Interior
Interior changes won’t be that massive. Spy photographers didn’t manage to get any interior photos but we are pretty sure that most of the things will remain the same. This crossover already features a very nice cabin, which combines an attractive dashboard design with quality materials. For the next year, the best we could see are novelties in terms of new color schemes. Anything more than that would be a real surprise.
Of course, the base cabin layout will certainly remain the same. We are about to see a spacious cabin, which accommodates five adults with ease. We particularly like the driving position, which is excellent. The cargo area is also pretty good for the segment. You may count on about 29.5 cubic feet behind the second row and nearly 59 cubic feet behind the first row. That’s above average for a compact luxury SUV.
Features
Naturally, this refresh will bring some novelties in terms of new standard and available features. At this point, we still don’t know the details but we presume that updates won’t be that big. Simply, the current model is already pretty good in this aspect. It comes standard with tech goodies like dual-zone climate control, push-button start, panoramic sunroof, a 10.2-inch display, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Siri Eyes Free, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hot spot, HD Radio, satellite radio, two USB ports, a nine-speaker stereo system, voice recognition, and AcuraLink, which lets you connect to the RDX via your smartphone etc.
The potential additions are currently on the list of options. Some of the highlights are goodies like navigation, two rear-seat USB ports, a 12-speaker premium audio system, a 16-speaker premium surround-sound audio system, and a 10.5-inch head-up display. Some of these will probably become standard.
2022 Acura RDX Engine
As we already mentioned, there are some rumors that suggest the addition of a hybrid version for the 2022 Acura RDX. We presume that would be a system the same or similar to the one found in the Accord Hybrid, which is based on a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. Unfortunately, the officials are still quiet about this, so the actual chances to see such a version aren’t particularly big.
On the other side, standard models will continue in the same way, featuring a well-known 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out 272 horsepower and 280 pound-feet torque and comes in pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The whole combination works great and feels very refined. When it comes to fuel economy, you may count on about 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway, which is quite typical for the segment.
2022 Acura RDX Release Date and Price
The exact launch date of the 2022 Acura RDX is yet to be announced but we expect it will hit the market sometime in the second half of the year.
