2022 Audi Q3 Preview: Specs, Features, Changes

In North America, Audi’s offer of crossovers starts with this model. The Q3 is a subcompact crossover, which has been around for a while and it is considered one of the best models in the class. The current generation was launched in 2018 and we are pretty sure that it will remain in the same form for another couple of years. So, the 2022 Audi Q3 should carry on in the same way, though there is always a chance to see smaller updates, such as new features, new colors and similar things.

On the other side, the overall layout will remain the same. So, you may count on a crossover that has a lot of great things to offer. We like its cabin in particular. It is spacious, well-insulated, luxurious and well-built. Also, this model comes with a long list of standard and available equipment, while we particularly like its infotainment system. On the other side, the powertrain would use more refinement, while the total cargo space could be better.

As there are no bigger changes to come for the next year, we presume it will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year.

2022 Audi Q3 Design

As we’ve just mentioned, most of the things in the current model are about to remain the same. This means that you may count on a familiar design, which is based on the MQB platform. Unlike most Audi models, this one is based on an architecture that is primarily used for mainstream cars, under brands like VW, Seat, Skoda etc. Therefore, it’s no wonder that this particular crossover features a transversally-mounted engine and FWD-biased all-wheel-drive system with Haldex differential, even though it’s also branded as Quattro.

The same thing goes for the styling. The current generation has been around for less than three years and if we consider Audi’s typical policy, there is no way we could see any more significant change for the 2022 Audi Q3. Still, we won’t exclude the possibility to see new color options in the offer and some similar updates.

Interior

The cabin is probably the strongest point of this small crossover. We like how it’s designed, how it combines classic design solutions with modern technologies. Typically for Audi, materials are nice while the build quality is excellent. Furthermore, we like the sound insulation, as well as the front seats, which are spacious and supportive. Also, the visibility is good in all directions.

The second row also offers a decent amount of room, especially if we consider the vehicle’s size. When it comes to the cargo area, you may count on 23.5 cubic feet behind the second row, which is pretty good for the class. On the other side, 48 cubic feet of the total cargo volume is less compared to what you get from rivals like BMW X1.

Safety and Tech Features

Novelties in terms of standard equipment are always possible but we doubt that too many things can change for the 2022 Audi Q3. Most likely, the list of standard safety systems will remain the same. The current model comes standard with goodies like a rearview camera, Audi Pre Sense Basic, Audi Pre Sense Front, which includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, as well as lane departure warning. Among options, you can find things like traffic sign recognition, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, a surround-view parking camera system, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, and a park assist system.

When it comes to tech features, the current model comes standard with an 8.8-inch touch screen, Bluetooth, four USB ports, HD Radio, a 10-speaker stereo, Android Auto, and wireless Apple CarPlay. Additionally, you can get goodies like a bigger 10.1-inch touch screen, navigation, satellite radio, a 15-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system, wireless device charging, 12.3-inch digital display known as Virtual Cockpit etc.

2022 Audi Q3 Engine

We expect that the 2022 Audi Q3 will continue with just one engine option in the offer. That would be a good-old 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. It comes in pair with an 8-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive. The overall performance is pretty satisfying, but we feel the whole powertrain needs a little bit more refinement. Not that it’s bad but simply, rivals feel better in this aspect.

When it comes to fuel economy, you may count on about 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway, which is relatively decent for the class.

2022 Audi Q3 Release Date and Price

Since there are no significant changes to come, we presume that the 2022 Audi Q3 will arrive sometime late in the year. Also, the price should remain pretty similar to the current model, which starts at around 35.000 dollars.
