We’ve been seeing a lot of delays in the GM’s range in the last 12 months and another one that’s has been confirmed is about the 2022 Cadillac XT4. The original plan was to offer a mid-cycle update for the 2022 model year but the latest reports suggest this refresh has been moved for 2023. Therefore, we are about to see a familiar design in the next year, with familiar characteristics and features. Still, we won’t exclude the possibility to see new a few new features and similar minor tweaks.
All in all, you may count on a familiar layout. This crossover is spacious and looks very nice, both from the inside and from the outside. Also, the list of standard and available equipment is pretty long. However, it comes with several drawbacks as well. The sound insulation and cabin materials should be better, while the ride isn’t particularly engaging. Also, the cargo area would use more space.
As there are no bigger changes to come for the next year, we presume that the 2022 Cadillac XT4 release date will be scheduled for the last quarter of the year.
2022 Cadillac XT4 Design
Considering that there are no bigger changes to come for the next year, we believe that you are familiar with this subcompact crossover. It has been around for three years, so we know what to expect from the next year’s model. This is a subcompact crossover, but a pretty big one. With nearly 110 inches in wheelbase, it is among the biggest models in the class. It shares most of its parts with the recently introduced Buick Envision, though we are actually talking about a pretty familiar E2 platform, the same one that underprints models like Chevy Equinox and GMC Terrain.
The 2022 Cadillac XT4 will continue with the same styling, which still looks good and fresh. On the other side, we are not impressed with the model’s ride quality. It is neither comfortable nor sporty. Handling is probably the biggest disappointment, which is way behind German competitors in every aspect.
If you look at the current cabin, it looks pretty nice. However, if you look closer, you can notice that the build quality and materials aren’t actually at the same level as those found in rivals like Audi Q3 or Mercedes-Benz GLA. Furthermore, we don’t like the sound insulation, as there is a lot of road noise at higher speeds.
On the other hand, there is no room for any complaints in terms of passenger space. With 109.4 inches in wheelbase, it’s obvious that both rows of seats are very generous with space and that this crossover accommodates adults in both rows with ease. Also, we like the front seats, as well as the driving position.
The cargo area isn’t as impressive. You may count on about 22.5 cubic feet behind the second row, while the total capacity goes up to 49 cubic feet. That’s slightly below-average for the segment.
Considering that the mid-cycle refresh will happen in the next year, we don’t believe that too many novelties could come in terms of standard and available features. Instead, most of the things will probably remain the same. For reference, the current model already stands pretty well in this aspect. It comes with goodies like dual-zone climate control, an 8-inch touch screen, a seven-speaker stereo, satellite radio, Bluetooth, USB ports, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Additionally, you can get goodies like a sunroof, a rear-seat entertainment system, wireless device charging, a 13-speaker Bose audio system, and navigation.
The same story is with safety features. Things should remain pretty much the same, which means that base models would probably come standard with goodies like a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, forward collision warning, forward automatic emergency braking, and front pedestrian braking
2022 Cadillac XT4 Engines
We don’t expect to see 2022 Cadillac XT4 changes under the hood. The next year’s model should carry on with a familiar 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The power is sent to front wheels via 9-speed automatic transmission, which does a pretty decent job. Of course, AWD versions are also available.
Besides decent driving dynamics, this crossover also offers decent fuel economy. You may count on about 24 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway, which is about average for the segment.
2022 Cadillac XT4 Release Date and Price
As there are no changes to come, we don’t expect surprises in terms of release date and price either. The next year’s model will probably hit the market sometime late in the year and we presume that the 2022 Cadillac XT4 price for base versions will go around 37.000 dollars.
