The next year’s model of Cadillac’s mid-size crossover will continue with the same design characteristics. However, that doesn’t mean that we are not about to see novelties regarding new features. The latest reports suggest that the 2022 Cadillac XT6 will come with Super Cruise, the company’s well-known semi-autonomous driving system. Other than that, we probably won’t see significant changes. The rest of the features should remain pretty much the same, just like the overall design.
This means you may count on a familiar layout, which has a couple of pretty good things to offer. First of all, this is a pretty spacious crossover, with three usable rows of seats. Furthermore, it comes with two efficient engine options, while the list of standard equipment is quite decent. On the other hand, one of the drawbacks is that the interior quality isn’t at the same level as rivals. Also, steering could be more direct, while the overall handling won’t impress you either.
As there are no significant changes to come, we presume that the 2022 Cadillac XT6 release date will be scheduled for the last quarter of the year.
2022 Cadillac XT6 Design
Design-wise, the next year’s model definitely won’t change. We are about to see a familiar layout, which has been around for a couple of years. The crossover is based on a familiar C1 platform, the same version that underprints the GMC Acadia. We are talking about an FWD layout, with is one of the reasons why this model isn’t as fun to drive as some rivals. Still, most drivers will be satisfied with steering and the overall driving experience.
Styling-wise, things haven’t changed too much since the original launch from a few years ago. This model still looks pretty good, which is no wonder considering that it follows the brand’s contemporary design language and takes a lot of inspiration from the Escala concept.
The cabin of this three-row SUV is a mixed bag. What we don’t like is the overall quality. The interior looks good but more rivals look better. While there are numerous areas wrapped with quality materials, there is also a lot of parts of the cabin that feature low-rent materials, such as cheap plastics.
While the overall quality definitely isn’t the best in the class, there is really nothing to complain about, regarding cabin space. The first two rows of seats are very generous with space, while the third row can be pretty useful as well. Also, the driving position is good, while the visibility is more than satisfying in all directions.
The cargo area offers around 12.6 cubic feet of space behind the third row, 43.1 cubic feet behind the second row, and 78.7 cubic feet behind the first row. That’s about average for the segment.
As we already mentioned, the next year’s model should bring Cadillac Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system. Other than that, we don’t expect that the list of standard and available equipment could be much different. Therefore, base models should come with tri-zone climate control, keyless entry, sunroof, n 8-inch touch screen, six USB ports, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hot spot, an eight-speaker Bose stereo, satellite radio, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Among options, we expect to see goodies like an 8-inch digital gauge cluster, wireless device charging, navigation, a 14-speaker Bose stereo, and a rear-seat entertainment system with dual displays.
When it comes to safety, the current model comes standard with lane keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, forward automatic emergency braking, front and rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera. Additionally, you can get goodies like blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, a surround-view parking camera system, a night vision camera, adaptive cruise control, reverse automatic emergency braking, parallel and perpendicular park assist, and a rear camera mirror, and more.
2022 Cadillac XT6 Engines
We expect that the 2022 Cadillac XT6 will continue with two familiar engine options. Base models should continue with the recently added 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts you around 237 horsepower and ensures quite decent driving dynamics, which should satisfy most drivers. For those who are looking for something more dynamic, there is a well-known 3.6-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 310 horsepower. Both engines come in pair with a 9-speed automatic transmission, which sends power to the front wheels. Of course, AWD models are also available.
When it comes to fuel economy, the base engine returns around 21 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. That is pretty good for the class. The V6 is slightly thirstier but not by much. It returns around 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.
2022 Cadillac XT6 Release Date and Price
As there are no significant changes to come, we presume that the next year’s model will hit the market sometime late in the year. When it comes to the 2022 Cadillac XT6 price, we expect that base models will go around 49.000 dollars. Ket competitors are models like Lincoln Aviator, Acura MDX etc.
