A few compact SUVs can offer what Cherokee has in the offer. Even though it may seem a little bit old compared to the younger competition, it stands out in so many ways. It offers the best off-road performance in the class, combined with decent on-road comfort. That’s something you won’t get from any other compact crossover. Furthermore, it is available with a V6 engine, while another strength is a very intuitive infotainment system. Without any doubt, the 2022 Jeep Cherokee will continue in the same way.
From what we know so far, the next year won’t bring any particular update. We are about to see the same overall design, though there is always a chance to see minor tweaks in terms of standard equipment, new color options and similar things. Still, if we consider the last year’s update, we are pretty sure that even these kinds of changes won’t come in a big portion. This also means that the 2022 Jeep Cherokee shouldn’t arrive before the last quarter of the year.
2022 Jeep Cherokee Design
In terms of base design characteristics, things definitely won’t change. Even though the current generation has been around for a while, it still looks pretty fresh, especially in terms of styling. We saw a facelift two years ago, which has brought a more attractive styling, especially at the front. Therefore, we are pretty sure that the best thing the 2022 Jeep Cherokee could bring is a couple of new color options, though even that doesn’t sound particularly likely.
The biggest strength of this crossover is definitely its off-road capability. All models come with selectable driving modes, while you can also get upgrades like low-range gearing, Active Drive Lock four-wheel-drive system, all-terrain tires, off-road suspension, and mechanical locking differential.
Interior
On the inside, the Cherokee may not look as fancy as some other models in the class, but it’s far from bad. The dashboard is full of classic design solutions, which provide fresh look years after the launch. On the other hand, the materials aren’t the fanciest in the class, while the build quality could be better as well.
Although Cherokee may look robust, it is still a compact crossover. So, you shouldn’t expect miracles when it comes to the passenger space. The first row is pretty good in this aspect and offers plenty of room for everyone. However, the driving position could be better. The second row isn’t that spacious and taller passengers may have some trouble accommodating comfortably.
The cargo area offers around 26 cubic feet behind the second row, while the total volume goes around 55 cubic feet. That’s below-average for the segment.
Features
We might see a couple of new things on the list of standard equipment but most things should remain the same, especially if we consider the last year’s update. For reference, the current model comes standard with goodies like a 7-inch touch screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, voice recognition, Bluetooth, a USB port, and a six-speaker stereo. Additionally, you can get features like an 8.4-inch touch screen, a Wi-Fi hot spot, navigation, satellite radio, HD Radio, an additional front USB port, two rear USB ports, a nine-speaker Alpine premium stereo, proximity keyless entry, remote start, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, a household-style power outlet, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster display, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a universal garage door opener.
When it comes to safety, the current model comes standard with driver aids like forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and a rearview camera. Additionally, you can get automatic high-beam headlights, adaptive cruise control, automatic parking assist, and front and rear parking sensors.
2022 Jeep Cherokee Engines
The 2022 Jeep Cherokee will continue with three engine options in the offer. Base versions will continue with a good-old 2.4-liter inline-four, which puts out around 180 horsepower. It’s not particularly powerful but may serve well as a daily commuter. Still, the optional V6 is a far better choice. A 3.3-liter engine puts out around 271 horsepower and provides a smooth and convenient ride.
Still, we believe that the 2.0-liter turbo-four is the best choice for this SUV. It doesn’t sound as good as the V6, but has more torque and offers better fuel economy. All three engines come in pair with a 9-speed automatic transmission, which may hesitate to shift but generally works okay.
2022 Jeep Cherokee Release Date and Price
Considering that there are no bigger changes to come, we presume that the 2022 Jeep Cherokee will hit the market sometime late in the year. The price should also remain pretty much the same, which means around 27.000 dollars for the base model. Some of the potential rivals could be models like Subaru Forester, Ford Bronco Sport, GMC Terrain etc.
