One of the most anticipated SUVs in recent years is finally about to come next year, as the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. Those are the latest reports we are getting about FCA’s new full-size, which is about to carry the legendary nameplate. Both Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer are coming and, as you may presume, the latter will be bigger. More precisely, it will be longer. Obviously, it will compete with stretched full-size SUVs, with models like Chevy Suburban, Ford Expedition Max etc.
At this point, we know most of the basic details about this model. Moreover, the concept version has been revealed recently and it looks very production-ready, so we don’t expect that the version in showrooms will look much different. The new model will be a genuine, BoF SUV and it will share most of its parts with the current-generation RAM 1500. When it comes to the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer release date, the latest reports suggest its arrival already for the first half of next year.
2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Design
The 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer redesign will bring a lot of interesting novelties. After more than 25 years, the well-known name is coming back to Jeep’s lineup and the famous brand will finally have a full-size SUV in its lineup. At this point, we know for sure that the new model will be a genuine body-on-frame SUV, which will share most of its parts with the current-generation RAM 1500.
Of course, this refers to the platform and most of the mechanics. On the other side, the overall layout will come in a typical SUV manner. Besides the different body style, this model will also come with a different suspension setup, which will be designed to provide a higher level of comfort. Therefore, one of the things that seem certain is the independent rear suspension, which became pretty much the segment standard. Besides improved comfort, this setup will also be beneficial in terms of handling and cargo volume.
When it comes to the exterior design, this model will feature a typical SUV shape, with a long wagon body. According to the concept version, it will rely on pretty conventional design solutions. For example, the front end comes with Jeep’s recognizable grille that includes those vertical bars. Headlights are also rather common, though the inner comes in a modern manner. The overall shape is boxy and you can be sure that we won’t be seeing those wood panels anymore.
Another thing that comes to mind about this SUV is the size. This will be a stretched version of the standard Wagoneer model and if we look at models like Expedition Max or Suburban, there is no doubt that this one will feature more than 130 inches in wheelbase and that it will be really, really long.
Of course, the biggest benefit of the long wheelbase will be the interior space. When it comes to passengers, you may count on three massive rows of seats. All three will be adult-friendly and the total seating capacity will go up to eight people. The amount of legroom probably won’t be much different compared to the standard Wagoneer. On the other side, we count on significantly more cargo space. Given the segment standards, there is no doubt that the new model will offer more way more than 120 cubic feet of the overall cargo space.
Judging on the recently revealed pictures of a concept version, the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer will look really modern and pretty luxurious. Interestingly, there is a big chance that we won’t see that RAM’s huge vertically-positioned touchscreen. Instead, this dash would rather come with a dual-screen setup. Furthermore, we could also see a digital instrument cluster in the offer.
2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Engines
When it comes to the powertrain, the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer will rely on FCA’s proven units. Most likely, the base version will come with a well-known 3.6-liter V6 Pentastar engine, which puts out 305 horsepower and which will probably come within a couple with the company’s new mild-hybrid system. In higher trim levels, we expect to see a 5.7-liter HEMI V8, which puts around 395 horsepower. A bigger, 6.4-liter HEMI unit is also possible.
There is a big chance to see a diesel version of this SUV in the offer too. If this happens, we have no doubt we’ll see a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel under the hood, which puts out around 260 horsepower and pretty impressive 480 pound-feet of torque.
2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Release Date and Price
It looks like the production could start already in the first half of the next year. When it comes to the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer price, we expect that base models will go around 50.000 dollars.
