The current generation of Jeep Renegade has been around for a while but it looks like the company doesn’t plan to redesign it soon. However, that doesn’t mean we won’t see updates in the near future. It looks like an update is coming, in the form of a mid-cycle refresh, which could occur already in the next year. Allegedly, the 2022 Jeep Renegade is about to come with new styling, while novelties in other aspects are possible too.
The testing model has been spotted in South America, but it looks like the styling won’t be the only update we are about to see, We will also see an updated interior, as well as changes under the hood. Although the officials are still quiet, we believe that the hybrid version could find its way to North America as well.
At this point, it’s early to talk about the 2022 Jeep Renegade release date, but the refreshed model should hit the market sometime in the next year.
2022 Jeep Renegade Design
The current generation of this subcompact crossover will remain in production for some more time, but it will undergo a serious update next year. As we’ve just mentioned, the mid-cycle update is on the way and the new version is in the testing phase. The mule rides on the roads of South America. However, it still wears a complete camouflage, so we can’t talk about details. Still, we presume that most of the changes will be evolutionary and the base styling will remain largely the same. On the other hand, we could see slightly revised grille, bumper and similar areas, as well as typical updates like new wheels, color options etc.
On the other hand, the mechanical aspect of the car is about to remain the same. You may count on a familiar layout, which still has a lot of good things to offer, starting from a well-balanced ride quality, which ensures decent handling in a combination with a pretty high level of comfort for the class.
This update is going to bring novelties to the inside as well. From what we can see on the testing mule, the dashboard is completely covered, which indicates massive changes. We presume that the 2022 Jeep Renegade interior will be updated in a similar way as the new Compass. This would mean a completely new, more mature dashboard design, with better aesthetics and much nicer materials. Of course, lots of new tech features are also expected.
On the other hand, the overall cabin layout will remain the same. This means that you may count on a pretty decent amount of space. The legroom is good in both rows, while the boxy shape ensures plenty of headroom in the second row as well. For the same reason, the cargo area is very spacious and practical. In numbers, that would be 18.5 cubic feet of cargo space with its rear seats upright and 50.8 cubic feet in total.
Without any doubt, this update will bring novelties in terms of standard and available equipment. At this point, it’s still early for details, but we should mention that the current model already stands pretty well in this aspect, so it’s hard to expect anything significant.
For reference, the current model comes standard with keyless entry, push-button start, dual-zone climate control, a 7-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a USB port, Bluetooth, satellite radio, and a six-speaker stereo. Additionally, you can get upgrades like an 8.4-inch touch screen, navigation, HD Radio, a nine-speaker stereo, an additional USB port, remote start, household-style power outlet etc.
2022 Jeep Renegade Engines
Changes under the hood are expected too. If we can trust the latest reports, the 2022 Jeep Renegade engine lineup will change in the way that the current 2.4-liter naturally-aspirated engine will be dropped from the offer. All versions will come standard with a 1.3-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 177 horsepower. The engine might be upgraded with a mild hybrid setup.
Some sources suggest we could also see a hybrid version in the offer. That would most likely be a plug-in hybrid setup, though the details are still unavailable.
2022 Jeep Renegade Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2022 Jeep Renegade will hit the market sometime in the next year, with a starting price of around 23.000 dollars. Some of the potential competitors might be models like Hyundai Kona, Mazda CX-30, Subaru Crosstrek etc.
