2022 Jeep Wagoneer: What to Expect

It’s no secret that FCA is bringing back this legendary nameplate. The all-new Wagoneer has been officially confirmed some time ago but it looks like we are about to see some delays. Initially, the plan was to see this model on the market as the 2021 model year. However, that has been delayed due to the Coronavirus outbreak and the new model will most likely come sometime in the next year, as the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer. Despite that we will have to wait for a little bit more, we already know most of the details about the new SUV.

From what we know about the new SUV, it will be a flagship model in the lineup. It will be the biggest vehicle, and also a vehicle that rides on a body-on-frame platform. The new model will share many of its parts with Ram 1500 and it will come to compete with models like Chevy Tahoe and Ford Expedition. We also count on a long-wheelbase version, which will come as the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer.

2022 Jeep Wagoneer Design

When it comes to base design characteristics, the new SUV will have most things in common with Ram 1500. The 2022 Jeep Wagoneer specs will be similar to the popular pickup truck in many ways. First of all, it will ride on the same platform and will be built in the same assembly in Michigan. Obviously, many parts will be shared, but we are also about to see some exclusive design solutions. This particularly refers to the suspension setup. We presume that the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer will come with independent rear suspension as standard features. This has become a segment standard, a feature that significantly improves ride quality, comfort and overall experience. Other upgrades are expected too, all in order to provide better driving characteristics.

Styling and Exterior Design

While the mechanical aspect of the new SUV will come with lots of similarities to Ram 1500, the styling will be completely different. As you may presume, it will be based on Jeep’s latest design language, though we are still waiting to see the details. The testing model is still under heavy camouflage and as we haven’t seen a new Jeep model for years, there is no doubt that many aesthetical solutions will be seen for the first time. Still, we don’t expect to see any radical change compared to the current Jeep lineup. We count on a familiar front end, with just a couple of upgrades, while the overall shape should be typically SUV-ish.

When it comes to dimensions, we count on typical numbers for the class, which means that the wheelbase should go over 120 inches. A long-wheelbase version will certainly add 10-15 more inches.

Interior

The exact look of the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer interior is still a complete mystery. Simply, the testing model still hides its interior, so we can talk only about general things. The first thing that comes to mind is the amount of space on the inside. With such dimensions, there is no doubt that the new SUV will be able to accommodate seven or eight adults with ease. All three rows will be generous in space, while the cargo area should be as impressive. Most likely, the long-wheelbase 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer probably won’t offer much more legroom but rather just more cargo volume.

On the other side, the look of the new dashboard is yet to come. We can only presume that Jeep will tend to make this cabin look very upscale. So, the materials should be on a high level, while the list of standard and available equipment should be pretty long too.

2022 Jeep Wagoneer Engines

When it comes to the powertrain, we have no doubt that FCA will stick to proven solutions. Therefore, expect the same powertrain options you can see in Ram 1500. Base models should come with a well-known 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, which is good for about 305 horsepower. Another well-known unit that comes to mind is a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine, which is good for about 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. Both engines will come in pair with an 8-speed automatic transmission and both engines should be available with FCA’s new mild hybrid system called eTorque.

The new 2022 Jeep Wagoneer may come in a diesel version too. If this happens, we presume it would use the same 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6, which puts out around 260 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque.

2022 Jeep Wagoneer Release Date and Price

As we already mentioned, the new model will probably hit the market sometime in the next year. When it comes to the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer price, we presume that base models will go around 50.000 dollars. Of course, competition is pretty familiar and includes models like Ford Expedition, Chevy Tahoe, Toyota Sequoia etc.
