The 2022 Kia Telluride will represent the third production year of this amazing crossover and from what we can see, it will come with a couple of minor but very nice novelties. First of all, there is the new “Kia” badge, which will find its place on the grille, tailgate and steering wheel. Furthermore, the Korean manufacturer adds a couple of new standard features, especially in terms of new tech goodies – read bigger infotainment screen. On the other hand, the overall layout remains the same.
All in all, you may count on a familiar layout, on all the great goodies this SUV has to offer. We like its attractive look, as well as the long list of standard equipment. Furthermore, the interior design is nice and offers plenty of passenger and cargo room. Finally, this car offers a really comfortable ride, while the capable V6 ensures solid driving dynamics in all conditions.
2022 Kia Telluride Design
As we’ve just mentioned, not many changes will come for the 2022 Kia Telluride. Instead, we will see the same overall layout, with just a couple of minor tweaks. Of course, the most interesting change is a new badge. Kia comes with a new logo, which will find its place on Telluride’s grille, tailgate and steering wheel. Other than that, we don’t expect to see any notable exterior change.
Mechanical changes won’t happen either. So, you may count on the same chassis and suspension setup, which makes this large SUV pretty easy to drive. It doesn’t offer the most engaging steering in the class. On the other side, the suspension setup is on the comfort side. We like the fact that this car absorbs road imperfections in such a nice way. For the same reason, you may count on a little bit of body roll in corners.
The 2022 Kia Telluride interior won’t come with more notable changes. We’ve already mentioned the new logo, which will be on the steering wheel too. Other than that, base trim levels will look more upscale, as all versions will now come standard with a bigger 10.3-inch infotainment screen. The rest of the cabin remains the same, which isn’t a bad thing at all. This SUV features an attractive, clean dashboard design, which comes in a combination of nice materials and great overall build quality.
Besides the nice look, this cabin also offers a high level of practicality. Three rows of seats are standard and all of them can accommodate adults pretty easily. Also, you can choose between 7- and 8-passenger configurations, depending on what kind of second-row you want. When it comes to the cargo area, you may count on about 21 cubic feet of cargo space behind its third-row seats, 46 cubic feet with these seats folded, and 87 cubic feet behind the first row.
As we’ve just mentioned, a 10.3-inch touchscreen is now standard in all versions and that is definitely one of the biggest novelties for the 2022 Telluride. Also, all models now come with semi-autonomous adaptive cruise control. Other than that, thins remained pretty much the same as in the 2021 model. So, base models come equipped with goodies like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a six-speaker stereo, HD Radio, satellite radio, Bluetooth, and five USB ports, as well as with keyless entry, push-button start, and remote start. Among options, you can find goodies like dual-zone climate control, sunroof, navigation, an extra USB port, wireless device charging, an intercom, and a 10-speaker Harman Kardon stereo.
When it comes to safety, all models come with a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, driver drowsiness monitoring, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and a rear-seat alert. Additionally, there are upgrades like front parking sensors, a surround-view parking camera system, a head-up display, and automatic high-beam headlights.
2022 Kia Telluride Engine
Things under the hood won’t change and the 2022 Kia Telluride will continue with a familiar 3.8-liter V6. It features a max output of 291 horsepower. That’s more than enough to ensure a convenient ride, though we have to say that some rivals offer better driving dynamics. On the other hand, an 8-speed automatic transmission does a pretty good job and there is really nothing to complain about.
When it comes to fuel economy, you may count on about 20 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway, which are typical ratings for the class. On the other hand, models with all-wheel drive are thirstier and return around 19 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway.
2022 Kia Telluride Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2022 Kia Telluride will hit the market in the last quarter of the year, with a starting price of around 33.000 dollars. Models like Mazda CX-9, Toyota Highlander and Honda Pilot are some of the key competitors.
