The current generation of Lexus’s full-size SUV has been around for a very long time but it looks like it will remain in production for a little bit more. At this point, we are still waiting to hear from the officials if there’s going to be the next generation or we are about to see a replacement in the form of a crossover called the LQ. In any case, the 2022 Lexus LX 570 won’t change and it will continue with familiar design and features.
This means you may count on a genuine BoF SUV which may be old, but still has a lot of good things to offer. It is one of the rare luxury SUVs with strong off-road capability and the best thing is that it goes in a combination with the brand’s unparalleled reliability. We also like the large and capable engine, though we would definitely like a little bit more power. The 2022 Lexus LX 570 should hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year.
2022 Lexus LX 570 Design
As we’ve just mentioned, the current generation is expected to remain in production for another year at least. Therefore, the 2022 Lexus LX 570 is about to carry on with a familiar layout, which hasn’t been essentially changed since 2007, when the current generation debuted. However, we saw a couple of updates, which kept the SUV relatively fresh up to this day. The styling follows the brand’s contemporary design language, while we particularly like good off-road capabilities.
Speaking about the off-road performance, it is worth mentioning that the ground clearance is around 9 inches, while 4×4 is standard. The list of standard features also includes goodies like adjustable suspension, crawl control, multi-terrain select modes, and a front-view terrain camera that lets you see approaching obstacles under the front of the vehicle.
On the inside, things are in a typical Lexus fashion. The overall build quality is exceptional. We both like nice materials and excellent precision. However, the dashboard pays debt to its age, so it starts to look a little bit outdated. Those who prefer classic and conventional aesthetics won’t find any issues.
On the other side, the amount of space isn’t among the best in class. Moreover, the SUV feels a little bit tight for the segment. While the front seats are spacious and comfortable, the second row is barely okay. The optional third row is really tight and can accommodate kids only.
When it comes to the cargo area, you may count on about 53.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row, while the total capacity goes around 81.3 cubic feet, which seems okay for the segment. In three-row models, there are just 16.3 cubic feet behind the rear seats.
Considering that this will probably be the last model year of the generation, we don’t expect bigger changes in this aspect. A couple of additions are possible, but most of the things are about to remain the same. Therefore, base models will come fully-loaded, with standard features like quad-zone automatic climate control, ambient interior lighting, a household-style power outlet, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a moonroof, proximity keyless entry, and a universal garage door opener. You may also count on standard tech goodies like a 12.3-inch display, navigation, a nine-speaker premium stereo, Bluetooth, multiple USB ports, satellite radio, voice recognition, Amazon Alexa, and the Lexus Enform app suite.
With such a long list of standard features, it seems logical that there aren’t many options left. You can get a center console refrigerator, a 19-speaker Mark Levinson surround-sound stereo, wireless device charging, and a rear-seat entertainment system.
When it comes to safety, all models come standard with things like forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, automatic high-beam headlights, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, a surround-view parking camera system, a multi-terrain view monitor, a rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.
2022 Lexus LX 570 Engine
Things under the hood will also remain the same, so you may count on a well-known 5.7-liter V8, which is good for about 383 horsepower and 403 pound-feet of torque. Although it doesn’t make this SUV particularly fast, it moves it with authority. Also, an 8-speed automatic transmission does a quite decent job.
The only obvious drawback of this engine is fuel economy, which is among the worst in the business. You may count on no more than 13 mpg in the city and 17 mpg on the highway.
2022 Lexus LX 570 Release Date and Price
Since there are no bigger changes to come, the 2022 Lexus LX 570 should hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year, with a starting price of around 87.000 dollars. Some of the key competitors are models like Range Rover, Mercedes G-Class, Infiniti QX80, Land Cruiser etc.
