With the arrival of the all-new Land Cruiser, it became obvious that the more luxurious sibling, the Lexus LX will also come completely new in the near future. At this point, it’s still all about rumors but many believe this could happen already in the next year. The next generation would certainly bring a lot of novelties, considering that the current version has been around since 2007. Allegedly, the new model will come as the 2022 Lexus LX600.
One of the most intriguing things about the new generation is the name. It clearly indicates that the next generation will come with a completely new powertrain. The current V8 will be replaced with something more efficient and for the first time, the number in the model’s name won’t refer to the engine size. So, it’s hard to say which exact engine the new 2022 Lexus LX600 will feature.
2022 Lexus LX600 Engine
When it comes to 2022 Lexus LX600 specs, the first thing that comes to mind is the engine. At this point, the only thing we know is that the current 5.7-liter V8 will be replaced. At this point, there are few possibilities for the new SUV. One of them is to see the same 3.4-liter V8 from the Land Cruiser, which is good for about 420 horsepower. That would definitely be a good suit for the new LX, but we won’t be surprises if we see a hybrid version either. If that happens, we presume that the one to go with would be a new hybrid system that Toyota is allegedly developing for the new Tundra. Allegedly, this hybrid powertrain would be based on a 3.5-liter V6 engine, which would feature a max output of 450 horsepower and over 500 pound-feet of torque.
Finally, there are also rumors about the new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, which would feature over 600 horsepower. We presume that this engine would be optional, reserved for the F-badged version.
2022 Lexus LX600 Redesign
Of course, the engine won’t be the only big novelty for the next year. This will be a completely new generation of the luxurious SUV and we presume that most parts would be shared with the new Land Cruiser. That means that the new LX will ride on Toyota’s new body-on-frame platform, based on the TNGA architecture. This promises better ride quality, thanks to a significant weight reduction, lower center of gravity and other improvements.
Naturally, we also count on a completely new look. Without any doubt, we will see a new iteration of the famous spindle grill, but we expect the new model to remain rugged and clearly show its off-road potential. Besides great off-road performance, we also count on a much smoother on-road ride, thanks to new, revolutionary design solutions in terms of the suspension setup.
Speaking of the off-road performances, we have no doubt that the 2022 Lexus LX600 will be really capable. You may count on advanced suspension setup, high ground clearance, differential locks and tons of other quintessential off-road goodies.
Even though the current generation is too old by any standards, the build quality is still impressive. The materials and craftsmanship are at a super high level and we expect nothing less from the new cabin. On the other hand, we count on much more modern aesthetics, which should make the cabin look even more upscale. This includes loads of tech features too.
Considering that the new model won’t be much bigger than its predecessor, we count on the same amount of space. Base models will probably come with two rows of seats, while the third row should be optional.
2022 Lexus LX600 Release Date and Competition
When it comes to the 2022 Lexus LX600 release date, the officials are still quiet, while rumors suggest the new generation could arrive already in the next year. Of course, the competition will remain the same. There are few BoF SUVs left on the market, such as Cadillac Escalade and Lincoln Navigator, but the LX has always been competing with unibody models like the Mercedes-Benz GLS class as well.
2022 Lexus LX600 Price
The current model starts at around 87.000 dollars and we presume that the 2022 Lexus LX600 price won’t be much different.
