Despite that the current generation of the legendary luxury crossover has been around since 2015, it still makes impressive sales numbers. It is still the most popular model in the segment, by a large margin, so it’s no wonder that the Japanese manufacturer won’t rush with the redesign. Therefore, it’s easy to conclude that the 2022 Lexus RX 350 will come without more important changes. We are about to see a familiar design and the best we could see are updates in terms of standard equipment and new color options.
All in all, you may count on a familiar layout, which still has a lot of great things to offer. This crossover offers exceptional interior quality and an incredibly smooth ride. Also, we like its powerful V6 engine, as well as a long list of standard and available equipment. Since there are no more important updates to come, we presume that the 2022 Lexus RX 350 will hit showrooms sometime late in the year.
2022 Lexus RX 350 Design
As we’ve just mentioned the current generation of this mid-size luxury crossover has been around since 2015. It still rides on a good-old K platform. That may be the reason why this SUV isn’t as fun to drive as some rivals. On the other side, the suspension setup is excellent and provides a composed ride, perfect for long journeys.
Visually, the 2022 Lexus RX 350 will continue with changes that were introduced for the 2019 update. For that occasion, we saw a couple of styling tweaks, particularly in terms of a new grille. The current model still looks pretty fresh and we have no doubt that the next year won’t bring any more important visual changes. Still, we won’t exclude the possibility to see new color options and other minor tweaks.
Despite the age, this remains one of the model’s strongest points. This cabin is designed in a more traditional way. While it may not look as fancy as those in German rivals, the fit and finish and overall build quality are definitely on a higher level. The 2022 Lexus RX 350 interior will continue in the same way and we don’t expect to see any particular change.
Besides exceptional quality, this cabin also offers a decent amount of passenger space. Both rows accommodate adults with ease, while the front seats are probably the best in class. The driving position is also pretty good, though rearward visibility could be a little bit better. The cargo area offers around 18.4 cubic feet of space behind the back seats and 56.3 cubic feet of the total cargo volume. That’s below average for the class.
The 2022 Lexus RX 350 L model will be on the offer too, but we are pretty sure that there are much better options around if you need a three-row SUV. Simply, the third row is cramped, while the cargo area is extremely small. For the same money, you can get much more spacious and practical SUVs, such as Genesis GV80, or the recently redesigned Acura MDX.
Additions in terms of new standard features are always possible but we doubt that the 2022 Lexus RX 350 will come with too many of them. Simply, the current model already comes with a pretty long list of goodies. All models include an 8-inch touch screen, voice recognition, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, satellite radio, HD Radio, a Wi-Fi hot spot, six USB ports, Bluetooth, and a nine-speaker premium stereo, dual-zone climate control, auto-dimming rearview mirror etc. Additionally, you can get goodies like tri-zone automatic climate control, interior ambient lighting, a moonroof, wireless device charging, a 12.3-inch touch screen, a Remote Touchpad, navigation, a 12-speaker premium stereo, and a 15-speaker Mark Levinson surround-sound stereo.
The current model already comes standard with a super-long list of standard safety features. There are things like forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, forward automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane tracing assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam headlights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and a rearview camera.
2022 Lexus RX 350 Engine
The 2022 Lexus RX 350 will continue with a good-old 3.5-liter V6, which puts out around 295 horsepower and comes in pair with 8-speed automatic transmission. The powertrain is very refined and ensures pretty solid driving dynamics. Also, you may count on above-average fuel economy, which goes around 20 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway.
If you want something even more fuel-efficient, you can opt for the 2022 Lexus RX Hybrid, which is more powerful and offers higher mpg ratings.
2022 Lexus RX 350 Release Date and Price
Considering that there are no bigger 2022 Lexus RX 350 changes to come, we presume that the launch date will be scheduled for the last quarter of the year. The price should also remain pretty much the same as for the current model, which starts at around 46.000 dollars.
