After the recent launch of the all-new Cadillac Escalade, we are not sure we can call Navigator the undisputed class leader. The competition between two rivals is now much tougher but the Blue Oval company won’t just sit and watch. The response is already in the works, and it will come in the form of a 2022 Lincoln Navigator refresh. This will be a typical mid-cycle update, which will bring a full load of novelties.
Of course, most of the changes will be in terms of styling. We are about to see a typical facelift, which will bring changes on both ends of the vehicle. Also, interesting interior changes are coming as well. Finally, we could see a big novelty under the hood, in the form of the 2022 Lincoln Navigator Hybrid.
The rest of the vehicle will probably carry on in the same way, especially in terms of base design characteristics. On the other side, we forgot to mention additions in terms of standard equipment, which always come with such updates.
2022 Lincoln Navigator Facelift
The 2022 Lincoln Navigator facelift will bring a lot of interesting novelties, reports suggest. The testing model has already been spotted and it shows a fair amount of camouflage. That could mean just one thing, a lot of styling changes. Judging on the test mule, novelties will come on both ends of the vehicle.
While the overall shape is about to remain the same, the front end will probably come with a lot of novelties. We presume that the new model could come with slightly revised headlights, while a modified grille seems like a certain thing. Also, we expect to see changes on the bumper and lower fascia. All these changes should be inspired by the face of the Aviator crossover.
The rear end is about to come with novelties as well. We expect to see some tweaks in areas like the rear bumper, tailgate, exhaust pipes etc. Of course, we also count on new color options, wheels and other typical updates.
When it comes to the interior design, the spy shots clearly show that the new version will get a bigger infotainment screen, notably bigger compared to the current 10-inch unit. It will be a horizontally-oriented screen, which will continue in a tablet-like layout. This means that the dashboard won’t be affected by this change and that it will probably remain the same, which is definitely a great thing. The dash features a lot of classic design solutions and looks really impressive.
Of course, the 2022 Lincoln Navigator interior will continue to be spacious and super practical. The amount of passenger space is impressive and eight adults can accommodate with ease. Also, which like the driving position, as well as the visibility, which is good in all directions.
The cargo area also offers pretty impressive numbers for the class. Standard models are good for about 103 cubic feet of total cargo volume, while the long-wheelbase version is good for more than 120 cubic feet of the total cargo space.
Naturally, this update should bring novelties in terms of standard equipment as well. At this point, we don’t know the details, but keep in mind that the current model already stands pretty well in this aspect. All models come standard with goodies like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hot spot, navigation, 14 speakers, satellite radio, six USB ports, tri-zone climate control, remote start etc. On the other side, some of the current options, such as a panoramic sunroof or rear-seat entertainment system could become standard, starting from the next year.
2022 Lincoln Navigator Powertrain
Novelties under the hood could come as well. Although the officials are still quiet, any experts speculate about the possibility to see a hybrid version of this SUV. If this happens, we presume that the 2022 Lincoln Navigator Hybrid would use the same system as the new Ford F-150 PowerBoost. This system is based on a 3.5-liter V6 and puts out around 430 horsepower and 570 pound-feet of torque.
On the other side, base models would certainly continue with a familiar 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6, which features a max output of 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque. The engine comes paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and delivers pretty good overall performances. When it comes to fuel economy, you may count on about 16 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway. The max towing capacity goes up to 8.700 pounds.
2022 Lincoln Navigator Release Date and Price
When it comes to the 2022 Lincoln Navigator release date, the new version will arrive either late in the year, or in the first half of 2022. The price shouldn’t increase too much compared to the current model, which starts at around 77.000 dollars. Key competitors are models like Cadillac Escalade, Lexus LX, Mercedes GLS etc.
