2022 Nissan Murano Features, Redesign, Release Date

As you probably know, Nissan is currently in the process of redesigning the whole SUV lineup. Just in the past several months, we saw several completely redesigned models, starting from the new Rogue, Juke and the Pathfinder. Logically, now it’s the time for the new Murano, which hasn’t been redesigned since 2014. However, it looks like the company won’t rush with this model and that the current generation will remain in production for another year. This means that the 2022 Nissan Murano will probably come without more important changes.

So, you may count on a familiar design that, despite the age, still has something to offer. We are talking about a pretty spacious two-row crossover, which also comes with a pretty long list of features. Furthermore, the ride is actually pretty smooth and comfortable, which makes the Murano a pretty good choice. Since there won’t be too many changes, we expect that the 2022 Nissan Murano will hit the market sometime late in the year.

In terms of base design characteristics, the current generation of this crossover hasn’t changed too much since the 2014 redesign. For nearly seven years, this model remained the same in terms of mechanics, while we didn’t see too many styling changes either. Still, we should mention the 2019 update, which includes a couple of tweaks to the front end. For that occasion, we saw new LED lighting, a new bumper and minor revisions to the grille. All these things made the SUV looks nicer and the 2022 Nissan Murano will continue in the same way.

Considering that this will probably be the final model year of the current generation, we presume that there isn’t much room for updates. Still, we won’t exclude the possibility to see new color options and similar kinds of updates.

Interior

The inside of the 2022 Nissan Murano shouldn’t change either and we’re not sure if that’s a good or bad thing. Simply, the current cabin has both good and bad things to offer. When it comes to good things, we definitely like the overall quality of the cabin. Nice materials can be found all over the cabin. However, the dashboard is the same one that was introduced seven years ago, so it’s no wonder that younger rivals like Hyundai Santa Fe look much more attractive.

When it comes to the passenger space, there is really nothing to complain about. Both rows are very generous with leg and headroom, while Nissan traditionally makes some of the nicest seats in the segment. Unfortunately, we can’t say the same for the cargo volume, considering that Murano has one of the smallest capacities in the class. In numbers, it goes around 32 cubic feet behind the second row and 67 cubes of the total cargo volume

Features

As we are probably talking about the last production year, we presume that there won’t be too many changes in terms of standard and available equipment. Most of the things are about to remain the same. The current model comes standard with goodies like dual-zone climate control, keyless entry, an 8-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, four USB ports, satellite radio, and a six-speaker stereo. Additionally, you can get things like navigation, a premium audio system, a remote start, a moonroof, and a hands-free power liftgate.

The same story is with safety features. The current model already comes with a lot of standard safety features, including a rearview camera, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, front and rear collision warning, automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam headlights etc. Additionally, you can get goodies like front and rear parking sensors, a surround-view parking camera system, road sign recognition, and adaptive cruise control.

2022 Nissan Murano Engine

Under the hood, you will find a good-old 3.5-liter V6, which in this case puts out around 260 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque. It comes in pair with a CVT gearbox and while it’s not particularly fun to drive, no one can deny its efficiency. You may count on about 20 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway, which is really good for a mid-size crossover.

While a CVT may be a matter of personal preference, the obvious drawback of this crossover is low towing capacity. You may count on just 1.500 pounds, which is lower compared to rivals.

2022 Nissan Murano Release Date and Price

Since the 2022 Nissan Murano probably won’t feature bigger changes, we presume it will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year. The price should also remain pretty much the same as for the current model, which starts at around 33.000 dollars. Key competitors are models like Hyundai Santa Fe, Honda Passport, Ford Edge, Chevy Blazer etc.
