Subaru’s popular compact crossover is about to receive a mid-cycle refresh and from what we know so far, it will bring more novelties than usual. Besides typical mid-cycle tweaks, which usually aren’t numerous on Subaru models, we will probably see a special version called 2022 Subaru Forester Wilderness. This version should come with the same design approach as the recently introduced Outback Wilderness, which features loads of interesting upgrades.
The new version will come with enhanced off-road capability but that won’t be all. We also count on several exclusive styling details, as well as a few interior upgrades. On the other hand, things under the hood probably won’t change
The rest of the lineup will also receive mid-cycle updates, but the overall layout will remain the same. In other words, you may count on a crossover that offers good off-road performances, offers plenty of interior space and comes with a quite long list of standard equipment. We expect to see it later this year.
2022 Subaru Forester Wilderness Design and Features
The 2022 Subaru Forester Wilderness will come as a new special version of the SUV. We expect to see similar kinds of upgrades we saw in the Outback Wilderness. This means a couple of mechanical tweaks and a few styling details that will accentuate its performance character.
One of the biggest upgrades will be a new suspension setup. We will see a few new components, along with higher ground clearance. In order to unlock full off-road potential, the new version will also come with additional selectable drive modes. Furthermore, we count on new wheels, upgraded tires and similar things.
When it comes to visual upgrades, you may count on a lot of blacked details, unique wheels and similar things, including some exclusive color options. A couple of exclusive details are expected on the inside as well, though we don’t expect too much.
2022 Subaru Forester Wilderness: Facelift
Besides unique styling details and features, the 2022 Subaru Forester Wilderness will also come with all the updates that are planned for the mid-cycle refresh. As always, Subaru won’t be too generous with these updates. From what we can see on rendering photos, the Forester will get a new treatment, especially at the front. You can see new headlights, along with new LED elements, as well as some mild tweaks on the front bumper. Naturally, all versions will also come with new wheels and a couple of new color options.
On the other hand, the overall layout will remain the same and we don’t believe that standard versions could come with more important mechanical changes.
This mid-cycle refresh will also bring a few novelties in terms of standard features but once
again, we don’t expect too much. Simply, the current model already comes with a quite decent list of standard equipment, which includes goodies like automatic climate control, a 6.5-inch touch screen, two USB ports, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, HD Radio, Bluetooth, and four speakers. Also, there driver aids like a rearview camera, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, forward automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lead vehicle start alert, and lane keep assist.
As the 2022 Subaru Forester Wilderness will be one of the highest trim levels on the offer, we count on way more standard equipment. Therefore, some of the current options will certainly find their place in the new special version. Some of the highlights could be goodies like dual-zone climate control, remote start, 8-inch touch screen, a six-speaker audio system, a nine-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a Wi-Fi hot spot, two additional USB ports, and navigation.
2022 Subaru Forester Wilderness Engine
Unfortunately, the 2022 Subaru Forester Wilderness probably won’t come with upgrades under the hood. Instead, it will come with the same engine as base models, a 2.5-liter flat-four, which features a max output of 182 horsepower. The engine comes in pair with a CVT gearbox and such a combination provides no more than average performance.
On the other hand, what’s great about this powertrain is fuel economy. You may count 26 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. That is great for the class, even when compared with 2WD models. Like always, the Forester comes standard with Subaru’s well-known all-wheel drive.
2022 Subaru Forester Wilderness Release Date and Price
We expect to see the 2022 Subaru Forester Wilderness sometime later in the year but it’s still early for estimations in terms of the price. On the other side, base models should go around 25.000 dollars. Key competitors of the new version would be models like Jeep Compass, Jeep Cherokee, Ford Bronco Sport etc.
