2022 Volvo XC60 Facelift: Changes, Specs, Release Date

The world of small premium crossovers is tough and you need a lot of good things to offer to stand out. That’s why the 2022 Volvo XC60 is coming with big updates. This compact crossover has been around for a while and it has always been praised for a lot of style and luxury. However, the new version brings all this to the next level, offering updated styling, new technologies and many more. With all these novelties, we expect that this Volvo will remain competitive in the segment where some of the key players are models like Audi Q5, BMW X3 etc.

This update brings a lot of interesting novelties. Naturally, most of the changes are in terms of styling, as we are talking about a typical facelift. Furthermore, the Swedish manufacturer also brings a couple of interior changes, including a new infotainment system. Finally, we are about to see improvements in the model’s bundle of advanced driver-assist features, which make this SUV even safer than before.

2022 Volvo XC60 Design and Facelift

This is pretty much a typical mid-cycle update. So, it’s no wonder that most of the novelties are in terms of the styling. The pre-facelifted model already looked really good but the new one is even better. You can notice a new grille, new bumper and a few more novelties at the front, all providing a more aggressive stance. Furthermore, there are new wheel design and color options, among typical mid-cycle updates.

However, the overall design has remained the same, and that’s not a bad thing at all. Moreover, this means you may count on a crossover that is sophisticated and offers quite impressive mechanics. Naturally, the model has been built over a familiar SPA platform and shares a lot of parts with the flagship XC90. Of course, it comes in a smaller package but 112.8 inches in wheelbase if far away from being too small. Moreover, this is one of the bigger models in the class.

Interior

While the exterior changes are pretty notable, interior updates are rather subtle. The 2022 Volvo XC60 comes with just a couple of new things, while most of the cabin remains the same. One of the interesting novelties is the Volvo’s City Weave cloth upholstery, which is available in this SUV for the first time. Still, the biggest highlight is the new infotainment system.

If you look at the touchscreen, things look pretty much the same. There is the same, well-familiar 9-inch vertically-oriented screen but the catch is that the software is all new. The menu is completely new and offers more customization options and easier navigation. The new system also offers a voice assistant feature and navigation via Google Maps.

Despite the novelties, most of the cabin has remained the same and that’s not a bad thing at all. Moreover, we like the amount of passenger space in both rows, which is more than generous. Furthermore, the front seats are very comfortable, while the driving position is very good. The cargo area also offers pretty decent numbers. You may count on about 22.4 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats and 63.3, which is quite good for the segment.

2022 Volvo XC60 Engines

Things under the hood have remained the same. The 2022 Volvo XC60 continues with three familiar configurations in the offer. The base T5 model comes with a standard version of a 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 250 horsepower. It offers performances that will satisfy most drivers, while fuel economy is pretty decent as well. You may count on about 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway.

The T6 brings an upgrade in the form of the added supercharger. So, the total output goes up to 316 horsepower. Naturally, this version is quicker, but fuel economy is lower as well. This setup returns around 20 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway.

Finally, there is the plug-in hybrid, the T8 model, which puts out 400 horsepower. You can even get a Polestar edition with 15 additional ponies. The fuel economy goes around 29 mpg combined, which is good but still lower compared to the Lexus RX 450h, which returns around 32 mpg combined.
