2023 BMW X3 Preview: Specs and Features

The X3 has always been one of the leaders in the segment of compact premium crossovers and we have no doubt that the 2023 BMW X3 will continue in the same way. Also, we are pretty sure that it won’t feature bigger changes, considering that the last year’s model was significantly updated. For that occasion, we saw new styling, new interior elements, more standard equipment and many other things that clearly indicate that the next year’s X3 is going to be nothing more than a typical carryover model.

Therefore, we know what to expect from the 2023 BMW X3. It will continue to deliver a great mix of performance and luxury, which has always been BMW’s thing. We like the capable powertrain options, as well as pretty nimble handling, considering the segment standards. Furthermore, the interior is elegant and well-equipped, while the cargo area is among the biggest in the class. All this makes the X3 a well-rounded vehicle, so it’s no wonder that it’s widely considered one of the best models in the class.

2023 BMW X3 Design

The current generation has been around for a while. However, we saw a mid-cycle refresh last year, which clearly indicates that we won’t be seeing bigger changes for some more time. The 2023 BMW X3 should carry on in the same way, with all the goodies that were introduced last year. To remind you, the last year’s refresh has brought a lot of new things, starting from the bolder grille, more aggressive bumpers, new headlights, wheels etc.

Attractive aesthetics aren’t the only great thing about this crossover. We also like the mechanical aspect, which is based on the company’s latest CLAR platform. The handling is pretty engaging, while the comfort remains at a high level at the same time. Overall, the driving experience is one of the X3’s key advantages over the competition.

Interior

The recent update has also brought a couple of novelties on the inside, so we are pretty sure that the 2023 BMW X3 will carry on without bigger changes in this aspect. We are about to see a familiar cabin layout, which looks great in many ways. We like the fact that the dashboard has remained simple and elegant. On the other hand, the car doesn’t lack any modern tech features, while the build quality and materials are pretty impressive.

Furthermore, the X3 offers one of the most spacious and most practical cabins in the class. We particularly like the fact that both rows of seats are very generous with space. The front seats are massive and supportive. When it comes to the cargo space, you may count on 29 cubic feet behind the second row and 63 cubic feet of the total cargo volume, which is pretty impressive for the segment.

Features

We don’t believe that bigger changes could happen in this aspect. Therefore, base models should come standard with goodies like tri-zone climate control, a 10.25-inch touch screen, navigation, a 12-speaker stereo, HD Radio, USB ports, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. The list of options should include remote start, a moonroof, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch touch screen, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon stereo, satellite radio, and wireless device charging.

2023 BMW X3 Engines

When it comes to the powertrain lineup, the offer will start with a 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 248 horsepower, which is enough to satisfy most drivers. Still, we believe that the optional 3.0-liter inline-six is a far better choice, as it is significantly smoother and also way more powerful. The max output goes up to 382 horsepower.

Of course, you can also get the M version, which also comes with an inline-six engine, but with a max output of 473 horsepower. Finally, there is the M Competition version with 30 more horsepower.

All models come with excellent 8-speed ZF automatic transmission.
