The segment of mid-size crossovers is really hot these days and every carmaker tries to stand out in some way. In most cases, those are off-road-oriented versions of familiar models but Chevy is going to do something different. Instead of raising the ground clearance and adding off-road tires, the new 2023 Chevy Blazer SS will be a kind of a street performer, equipped with features that provide a higher level of athleticism.
At this point, the new version still waits for official confirmation. Meanwhile, we can only speculate about the design characteristics of this particular version, which is expected to come with numerous upgrades compared to the base versions. Besides mechanical upgrades, we also expect to see a certain number of new visual details, which will emphasize the model’s performance character. On the other hand, things under the hood probably won’t bring anything exciting.
We expect that the 2023 Chevy Blazer SS will hit the market sometime in the second half of 2022.
2023 Chevy Blazer SS Design
The 2023 Chevy Blazer SS will be based on the standard version of this crossover, which means it will ride on a familiar C1 platform, and feature 112.7 inches in wheelbase. On the other hand, we count on all kinds of mechanical upgrades. The first thing that comes to mind is suspension and in this case, we expect that the Blazer SS will sit closer to the ground compared to the standard versions. We count on a stiffer setup, as well as on bigger brakes and other chassis upgrades.
Also, we expect to see some exclusive visual details that will emphasize the model’s performance character. This refers to things like wheels, bumpers, grille and similar things. Also, keep in mind that the 2023 Blazer is about to receive a facelift, so all those novelties will be implemented in this particular version as well.
A couple of exclusive interior details are expected too. Some of the things that come to mind are new color schemes, upgraded seats, steering wheel and pedals. Also, we presume that the upcoming facelift will bring a few changes to the dashboard design, as well as things like a larger infotainment screen and more tech goodies.
On the other hand, the overall cabin layout wouldn’t be much different compared to the standard version. This means a relatively spacious cabin, which features two rows of seats and accommodates up to five passengers. Also, we count on the same or similar amount of cargo space, which isn’t particularly impressive for this segment of crossover. The standard version offers around 30.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind its rear seats and 64.2 cubic feet in total, which is way below average ratings for the segment.
We don’t expect that the 2023 Chevy Blazer SS would be significantly different compared to the rest of the lineup when it comes to standard and available features. Of course, this model would be better equipped compared to most basic versions, which come with things like dual-zone climate control, an 8-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, Bluetooth, four USB ports, a six-speaker stereo, satellite radio, and a Wi-Fi hot spot.
So, we expect that the list of standard equipment would be expanded with some of the things that are currently on the list of options. Those could be things like navigation, an eight-speaker stereo, two additional USB ports, wireless device charging etc. Also, we presume that the upcoming facelift could bring a couple of new things, including an updated infotainment system with a bigger infotainment screen. More details should come in the near future.
2023 Chevy Blazer SS Engine
The 2023 Chevy Blazer SS would be a performance-oriented model but it would come with an exclusive engine option, we presume. Instead, we are pretty sure that the 2023 Chevy Blazer SS would use a familiar 3.6-liter V6 engine, which puts out around 310 horsepower of offers a pretty smooth ride. The engine comes in pair with a 9-speed automatic transmission and we presume that this model would probably come standard with all-wheel drive.
When it comes to fuel economy, it would go around 18 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway, which is about average for this segment of the automotive industry.
With such a setup, we presume that the key competitor would be Ford Edge ST.
2023 Chevy Blazer SS Release Date and Price
Although there is still no official confirmation, we believe that the 2023 Chevy Blazer SS could arrive sometime in the second half of 2023. The price would probably go around 45.000 dollars.
