2023 Lexus RX 350 Redesign: What We Know So Far

25 years ago, the RX established a whole new segment of luxury crossovers. Today, it is still the best-selling model in this class, by a pretty large margin. That’s why the Japanese manufacture isn’t rushing with updates. The sales numbers are still excellent and the model looks very fresh, even though it’s been around for more than five years. Still, Lexus’ is definitely working on the new generation and from what we know so far, the new model will arrive next year, as the 2023 Lexus RX 350.

At this point, the exact details are still unavailable but we pretty much know what to expect from the new model. Most of the changes will be evolutionary, especially in terms of styling. On the other hand, the platform will be all new and it should bring a lot of improvements, especially in terms of handling and overall driving experience. Also, the new three-row version will be far more generous with space.

At this point, the officials are quiet, so we can’t talk about details. On the other hand, we can make some predictions and the first one that comes to mind is about the platform. Of course, we have no doubt that the new 2023 Lexus RX 350 will switch to the new TNGA platform, which will bring improvements in various aspects. The new architecture offers a lower center of gravity, which in practice means much better driving characteristics.

Still, we are pretty sure that this redesign won’t change the RX’s original nature, which is mostly about comfort. The current model is still great in this aspect, so the new one could only get better. Combined with better handling and more precise steering, the new RX should be able to satisfy an even wider range of drivers.

Exterior Design

When it comes to the exterior design, one of the first things that come to mind is the size. The current model isn’t particularly big by modern standards, so we presume that the new generation will feature a longer wheelbase and bigger overall dimensions. Still, we are pretty sure that the standard, two-row version won’t grow too much in size. That would be left for the three-row model, which would come with a notably longer wheelbase and way more space in the third row, compared to the current generation.

Styling-wise, we don’t expect to see revolutionary changes. We count on the evolution of the current design language and on the new iteration of the well-known spindle grille, which would look even more prominent and come with even sharper headlights. Still, the overall shape shouldn’t change too much. The new model will certainly look more muscular, but the overall proportions should remain pretty similar.

Interior

If you look at the current model, the interior quality is pretty impressive. However, the aesthetics would use more modern details, so we presume that the new dashboard will bring a lot more flashy details. We count on some influence from the LQ concept and the overall dashboard design should be a combination of conventional and futuristic styling elements. Of course, we also count on a full load of tech and safety features, including a new, more intuitive infotainment system.

Naturally, we expect more space than in the current model. This particularly refers to the three-row model, which should feature a notably longer wheelbase, with more room in the third row and way more cargo space. On the other hand, the standard two-row model probably won’t change that much in terms of passenger space and cargo volume.

2023 Lexus RX 350 Engine

As the name suggests, the 2023 Lexus RX 350 will continue with the well-known 3.5-liter V6 engine. This well-known unit currently delivers around 295 horsepower and 268 pound-feet of torque, which is more than enough for quick acceleration and a smooth ride. Still, we presume that the new generation would bring a few horses more to the table. Also, the current 8-speed automatic transmission could easily be replaced with the company’s new 10-speed automatic gearbox, which should improve fuel economy and make the ride even smoother.

Of course, the hybrid version is also expected and we expect to see a new system under the hood. The current one is based on a V6 engine and works well, but we count on the next-generation system, which would be more efficient and even more refined. More precise details are unavailable at the moment.
