2023 Porsche Cayenne Facelift: Changes, Specs, Features

Porsche’s popular SUV has set some new standards in the segment of mid-size SUVs and it is a class leader in many ways. Of course, the German manufacturer carries about its pedigree a lot, and that’s the reason why the 2023 Porsche Cayenne is about to get a mid-cycle refresh, to retain its position on the market.

At this point, the test model still drives around with a camouflage. From what we can see, the updates will be quite comprehensive. Of course, some of them will be in terms of the styling, but we know there will be some interesting interior updates as well. Naturally, more standard equipment is expected too.

On the other hand, we don’t expect bigger mechanical changes. The powertrain lineup should remain the same, though we presume that some options will get a slight power boost.

We expect that the updated 2023 Porsche Cayenne will hit the market sometime in the second half of 2022.

2023 Porsche Cayenne Design

As we already mentioned, the 2023 Porsche Cayenne is about to receive a mid-cycle. As you may presume, a lot of updates will be in terms of styling. The test mule has been spotted on the road and as you can see, it doesn’t wear all that much cover at all. This clearly indicates that we are about to see subtle changes. The headlights will get a slightly upgraded design, while we may also see a slight reshaping of the front bumper. On the other hand, the rear end will come with updated taillights. Of course, there’s always room for new color options and wheels designs.

On the other hand, the mechanical aspect of the vehicle is about to remain the same. We are about to see a familiar layout, based on the VW’s MLB platform, which is shared with models like Audi Q8, Lamborghini Urus, Bentley Bentayga etc. Despite the similarities, the Cayenne also comes with a lot of exclusive parts, especially in terms of suspension setup, which makes it one of the best mid-size SUVs on the market to drive.

Interior

Interior updates are expected as well. From what we’ve seen inside the test mule, the new model is about to bring a couple of interesting novelties. One of them is a new, bigger infotainment screen, which should come with updated software as well. Furthermore, we expect to see novelties on the center console as well. At this point, we can see a new gear shifter, designed in a minimalist fashion, just like in the case of the new 911.

On the other hand, the overall layout should remain pretty much the same. So, you may count on a couple of comfortable rows, which accommodate adults with ease. The front seats are also designed in a sporty manner, with plenty of side support, but still very soft and comfortable. When it comes to the cargo area, you may count on 22 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats and 54.3 cubic feet of the total volume. That’s below average for the class.

Tech Features

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2023 Porsche Cayenne is about to get a new infotainment screen but that probably won’t be the only tech upgrade. We also count on upgrades regarding connectivity features, driver aids etc. For reference, the current model comes standard with goodies like a 12.3-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, a navigation system, Bluetooth, four USB ports, satellite radio, and a 10-speaker stereo etc.

We presume that most of the additions to the list of standard equipment will be those goodies that are currently optional. Some of the features that come to mind are wireless device charging, a 14-speaker Bose stereo, quad-zone climate control etc.

2023 Porsche Cayenne Engines

The powertrain lineup will probably remain the same. Still, we won’t exclude the possibility to see a slight power increase in some of these engines. In any case, the offer will start with a 3.0-liter V6, which puts out around 335 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. While that’s a quite decent amount of power, we believe that the optional 2.9-liter twin-turbo is a far superior choice, not just in terms of power, but in general refinement as well. This unit puts out around 434 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque.

For those who prefer eight cylinders, there are a few more options on the offer, starting from the GTS model, which features a 4.0-liter twin-turbo with the max output of 453 horsepower and 457 pound-feet of torque. The Cayenne Turbo features an upgraded version of this engine, with a max output of 541 horsepower and 567 pound-feet of torque.

All models will continue with the same, super-refined 8-speed automatic transmission.
