2023 Toyota Sequoia Is Finally Getting Full Redesign!

The Japanese manufacturer is currently in the process of renewing the whole lineup of body-on-frame models. The new Tundra already debuted on the market, while the legendary Land Cruiser has been completely redesigned too. Of course, there are several more all-new models to come and the 2023 Toyota Sequoia is one of them. At this point, the new generation of the aged SUV is still kept away from the public, but some of the things are pretty easy to predict.

Of course, the most obvious thing about the new Sequoia is the platform, which will be shared with the new Tundra. Compared to the outgoing model, the new Sequoia will come with significant changes, starting from a completely new look, new interior and way more tech features. Of course, we count on a new powertrain lineup as well, which should consist of the new turbo V6 and a hybrid version.

The all-new 2023 Toyota Sequoia should hit the market sometime in the second half of 2022.

2023 Toyota Sequoia Redesign

If we consider that the current generation is 13 years old, it’s easy to understand how big the upcoming redesign is about to be. We count on all kinds of significant updates and the first thing that comes to mind is the platform. Of course, the new 2023 Toyota Sequoia will ride on the TNGA-F platform, a body-on-frame version of Toyota’s new architecture, which brings benefits in various aspects.

First of all, the new model will be notably lighter, which should definitely impact efficiency. At the same time, the new chassis will be stiffer, while the center of gravity will be lower. In practice, this would mean less body roll and more engaging handling, though this doesn’t model will be able to get away from its full-size SUV nature.

Exterior

When it comes to the exterior design, the first thing that comes to mind is the size. The current generation is already pretty respectable in this aspect, so we don’t see how the 2023 Toyota Sequoia could get significantly bigger. Most like, we will see just a slight increase in size, particularly in terms of the wheelbase, which would provide more space on the inside.

When it comes to styling, there is no doubt that things are about to look significantly different compared to the outgoing model. Simply, the current generation is way too old and it looks outdated, despite the updates. The new generation will adopt the brand’s new design language and we presume that the front end will look pretty similar to the new Tundra. The rest of the body will come in a typical SUV manner, though we count on a little bit bolder approach than before.

Interior

Big changes are expected on the inside as well. Simply, the current dashboard looks very old, so we are sure that the new model will come with far more attractive aesthetics. Furthermore, we count on much nicer materials, as well as on better build quality. Furthermore, we count on a full load of the latest tech features, including a massive infotainment screen, digital instrument cluster, wireless smartphone integration and a long list of advanced safety systems.

When it comes to the interior space, we already mentioned that the exterior dimensions probably won’t be significantly increased, so the same thing should happen with the inside of the SUV. After all, the current model is already pretty generous with passenger space in all three rows. The overall cargo area also offers respectable numbers in the current model, though we believe that the company will tend to improve cargo space behind the third row, which is probably the only relatively weak point of the current generation.

Big things will happen under the hood. Just like in the case of the new Tundra, the good-old 5.7-liter V8 will be retired. Instead, the 2023 Toyota Sequoia will be powered by a new 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6, which puts out around 389 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. We are pretty sure that the new model will also be offered in a hybrid version. Once again, things should be the same as in the pickup sibling. This would mean a V6-based system, with a max output of 437 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque.

Both versions will come in pair with a new 10-speed automatic transmission, which will send power to the rear wheels in base variants. Of course, four-wheel drive will be available too.

2023 Toyota Sequoia Release Date and Price

At this point, the details about the launch time are yet to come. Still, we are pretty sure this will happen sometime in the second half of the year. The base price should go around 50.000 dollars, while the key competitors will be models like Chevy Tahoe, Ford Expedition, Nissan Armada etc.
