2024 Audi Q5 Redesign: What We Know So Far

The current generation of Audi’s compact crossover has been around since 2017 and the company is already working on the next generation. Allegedly, the new Q5 will arrive sometime in the next year, and from what we know so far, it will be the last generation with internal-combustion engines. After that, it will go all-electric, reports say. The new generation is already in the testing phase and we expect to see it with all kinds of novelties pretty soon, as the 2024 Audi Q5.

At this point, the company tries to keep most details a secret. However, some aspects of the vehicle are quite easy to predict, starting from the fact that the engine lineup won’t change much. Also, we expect to see an evolutionary design approach, especially in terms of exterior design. On the other hand, the interior should bring some improvements, both in terms of aesthetics and materials.

2024 Audi Q5 Redesign

The 2024 Audi Q5 will come completely redesigned. At this point, the test mule is on the road but it still wears complete camouflage. However, some design solutions can be seen through the cover, while it’s worth mentioning that rendering photos already appeared on the network.

In both cases, we can notice a little bit bolder appearance, though we can’t say if the new model feels a little bit bigger than its predecessors. We presume that dimensions are around to remain similar, while the styling is about to bring evolutionary changes only. We presume that some inspiration might be taken from the brand’s all-electric lineup and its aesthetical solutions. In any case, we expect to see a more massive grille, along with narrower headlights and a more aggressive overall stance.

When it comes to mechanics, there’s no doubt that the new 2024 Audi Q5 will continue to ride on a good-old MLB platform, though we can’t say how much this architecture is going to be updated. The only thing we can say at this moment is that all models will come standard with all-wheel drive, while we expect to see some improvements regarding suspension setup, especially on the rear end, which is currently one of the Q5’s main drawbacks when compared to rivals like BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC.

Interior

The current cabin features pretty good quality though it starts to show age. When compared to rivals, it looks a little bit bland, even though the build quality is still pretty impressive. Therefore, we presume that the company’s designers will put their focus on the cabin redesign and that they will bring a new dashboard, with more attractive shapes and even nicer materials.

Of course, there is no doubt that the new dash will come in Audi’s typical manner, with lots of conservative design solutions. On the other hand, we expect to see lots of new tech features, which will certainly make this cabin look more upscale.

As we already mentioned, the overall size probably won’t change much, so we presume that the new 2024 Audi Q5 won’t bring significant changes regarding passenger and cargo space. However, we would like to see new front seats, which would be more comfortable and with better support, because the current ones aren’t particularly impressive, especially when compared to the competition.

2024 Audi Q5 Engines

As we already mentioned, this will be the last generation to feature internal-combustion engines. At this point, we don’t know the details but we presume that most of the current powertrain options will carry on, though with some modifications.

When it comes to gasoline units, we presume that all versions will come with a 48-volt mild hybrid system, which should improve fuel economy. On the other hand, it’s still early to talk about power figures. The current mode comes standard with a 201-hp 2.0-liter turbo-four, while the same engine is available in a variant with 261 horsepower. Finally, there is the SQ5 model, which currently features a 3.0-liter V6 with 349 horsepower. The turbo-four comes coupled with a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, while the V6 is paired with a classic 8-speed automatic.

Of course, we also count on a plug-in hybrid version, which could get some upgrades as well. The current version is based on a turbo-four engine and features a max output of 362 horsepower. It comes with a 17.9-kWh battery pack, which ensures around 23 miles of range in the EV model. Considering that most PHEVs in the class offers more than that, we presume that the next generation would come with some improvements regarding battery capacity and EV autonomy.
