2024 BMW X8: What to Expect

Rumors about the coupe iteration of BMW’s full-size SUV have been circulating for several years, pretty much since the launch of the X7 and it finally looks like something is happening. The latest reports suggest that the 2024 BMW X8 is in an advanced stage of development and that it will arrive by the end of this year. The X7 has just been refreshed and, of course, the new X8 would benefit in many ways from it, whether it’s about mechanics or aesthetics.

What we expect to see is the same correlation as in the case of the X5 and X6 models, for example. The 2024 BMW X8 would adopt most of the X7’s design, while the key difference would be in the rear-end layout, which would come with a coupe-like roofline, which would make this crossover look sportier and even more aggressive. On the other hand, we don’t believe that bigger mechanical changes could happen.

2024 BMW X8 Design

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2024 BMW X8 would be heavily based on the X7 model, starting from the mechanics, which would be pretty much the same. This means that the new coupe SUV would ride on the same iteration of the CLAR platform, with the same wheelbase and chassis setup. Moreover, we would expect to see the same powertrain configuration and technologies.

On the other hand, the key difference will be in terms of styling. On one hand, the front end would probably look the same, which includes the recent updates we saw on the X7, starting from a completely new face with a bolder grille and new headlights. On the other hand, the rear end would come with a sloping roof design, which would provide that coupe-like look. Of course, this would also affect areas like the tailgate, taillights etc.

Interior

When it comes to interior design, there is no doubt that the 2024 BMW X8 would feature the same dashboard. Once again, we would see all the novelties that were introduced with the recent refresh, which was mostly about the new screens, which come integrated into something we could call a panel, which includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, along with a massive 14.9-inch infotainment screen. Other than that, the dashboard comes in a typical BMW fashion, with quality materials, elegant aesthetical solutions and great overall build quality.

The 2024 BMW X8 would come with one significant difference compared to the more conventional iteration. Due to the sloping roof design, the new SUV wouldn’t feature a third row of seats. Instead, we would see two rows of seats, which would both be very generous with space and with the ability to accommodate adults in great fashion. Of course, the sloping roofline would also affect the cargo area.

Tech and Safety Features

We presume that the offer standard and available equipment would be pretty much the same as in the case of X7. Therefore, we would expect to see a list of standard features with goodies like a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.9-inch touch screen, wireless device charging, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a Wi-Fi hot spot, satellite radio, a 10-speaker stereo, multiple USB ports, quad-zone automatic climate control, remote start, proximity keyless entry, ambient interior lighting, a universal garage door opener, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and a panoramic moonroof.

Among available features, we expect to see goodies like infotainment gesture control, a dashcam, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon surround-sound stereo and a 20-speaker Bowers & Wilkins surround-sound stereo, five-zone automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped dashboard, glass cabin controls, interior roof LED lighting and heated and cooled cup holders.

When it comes to safety, base models would probably come standard with forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, traffic-sign recognition, adaptive headlights, automatic high beams, head-up display, rearview camera, rain-sensing windshield wipers, etc.

2024 BMW X8 Engines

This aspect shouldn’t bring any surprises. So, base models would come with the recently updated 3.0-liter inline-six, which puts out around 375 horsepower. The first upgrade would be the new M60i, which uses a well-known 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, but which now comes with a mild-hybrid setup, with a total output of 523 horsepower.

Of course, we would also expect to see the XB8 version, with the upgraded variant of the V8, which puts out around 630 horsepower.

All three engine options would come coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

2024 BMW X8 Release Date and Price

If we can trust rumors, the 2024 BMW X8 will arrive by the end of this year. We estimate that the base price would go around 85.000 dollars.
