A few years ago, Chevy brought back the iconic Blazer nameplate. However, enthusiasts were really disappointed with the new model, for a big reason. Instead of a super-capable body-on-frame SUV, we saw a unibody crossover. Nowadays, it looks like Chevy is preparing a kind of redemption model, which will also use the legendary nameplate but come with an all-electric powertrain and way better performance. We are talking about the 2024 Chevy Blazer SS Electric, which will be the first model to come in the electric Blazer range.
This will be a high-performance version of the new all-electric SUVs. It will come with electric motors on both axles and plenty of power. Besides strong acceleration, the company promises engaging handling and a lot of style, along with a full load of advanced tech and convenience features. The all-new 2024 Chevy Blazer SS Electric should arrive sometime in the second half of 2023.
2024 Chevy Blazer SS Electric Powertrain
Of course, the most interesting aspect of this SUV will be its performance. As we already mentioned, this will be the most capable variant of the all-electric Blazer and it will hit the market first. From what we know so far, it will feature electric motors on both axles, while the max output will go around 557 horsepower. That’s a pretty respectable amount of power that should ensure performances that are capable of battling with the Mustang Mach-E and similar models.
Naturally, another important aspect of this model is the battery. Chevy hasn’t come up with the capacity numbers yet. On the other hand, unofficial reports suggest that the new SUV will be able to make around 320 miles on a single charge. It will feature GM’s latest Ultium battery technology, which will bring many benefits, including a 190-kW charging capability. In a real-world situation, this means that the Blazer SS should be able to add 95 miles of range every 10 minutes when using a fast charger.
2024 Chevy Blazer SS Electric Design
As we’ve just mentioned, this will be the first version of the all-electric Blazer to come. The rest of the lineup should arrive soon after and the first thing we should mention is that, despite the similar design approach, the EV Blazer won’t have many things in common with the conventional model. It will ride on a dedicated EV platform and features notably bigger dimensions, with a significantly longer wheelbase. Also, this particular version is expected to come with various upgrades regarding suspension and chassis setup, which should improve handling and overall ride quality.
In terms of the styling, the company already presented a couple of renders and we can say that the new model looks really amazing. The front end is aggressive and utilizes sharp and futuristic headlights, a massive grille, and a super-shredded bumper with a massive air intake. This particular version also comes with a completely upgraded body kit, which accentuates its performance character.
On the inside, the 2024 Chevy Blazer SS Electric will be spacious, attractive and comfortable. As we already mentioned, the electric Blazer will feature a significantly longer wheelbase, which will go all away up to 121 inches. Of course, that should positively affect the interior space, especially in the second row. The new model will certainly be able to accommodate five adult passengers with ease, while the cargo area should offer pretty respectable numbers as well.
The battery will be positioned under the floor and it shouldn’t negatively affect the passenger space. When it comes to the dashboard design, things look way better than in the conventional Blazer. You can notice a massive infotainment screen, with 17.2 inches diagonally, along with a digital instrument screen. Furthermore, there are Blazer’s recognizable round vents, while materials seem to be much nicer in this case. Naturally, we expect to see the new model fully loaded with tech and convenience features.
2024 Chevy Blazer SS Electric Release Date and Price
The 2024 Chevy Blazer SS Electric will probably come sometime in the second half of 2023, while some believe that the launch could happen already in the next summer. The SS model will cost around 66 dollars, according to the latest reports, while the base Blazer EV is expected to start at around 45.000 dollars.
