Although the current generation of Ford’s compact crossover debuted just a few years ago, the Blue Oval company is already preparing a facelift. The most probable reason for such a quick update is the fact that the current generation isn’t as popular as the previous model. One of the reasons may be the visual appearance, so this may be seen as an attempt to make the vehicle more attractive and improve sales. The testing mule has already been spotted and we can clearly see the new styling. This update will come for the 2023 model year, so we are pretty sure that the 2024 Ford Escape, which will come just a year after, will carry on in the same way.
In any case, the overall layout will remain the same. This crossover will continue to offer a comfortable ride, intuitive infotainment system, good fuel economy, large cargo area and other benefits. We expect to see it sometime in the last quarter of 2023.
2024 Ford Escape Design
As we’ve just mentioned, the 2024 Ford Escape will come only a year after the mid-cycle refresh. Therefore, we don’t expect any notable changes. You may count on the same design, with all the updates, which are mostly in terms of styling. The Escape looks squarer, bolder and more aggressive than before. There are new headlights, new grille, new bumpers and many more parts that make this crossover look more attractive.
On the other hand, the mechanical aspect will remain the same. This model rides on a familiar C2 platform, the same one that underpins the Ford Focus. The ride quality is good, though the handling isn’t as engaging as in some previous generations. On the other hand, the ride is smooth and decently comfortable.
The inside of this crossover won’t change much. You may count on a familiar layout, which looks nice but not as upscale as some rivals. The build quality is good, though there are some areas with low-rent materials. The amount of standard and available tech features is pretty decent and it also has an impact on the overall appeal.
What we like about this crossover is the seat design. The front seats are comfortable and well-shaped, with good side support. Furthermore, the passenger space is pretty good in both rows, so five adults can accommodate pretty comfortably.
When it comes to the cargo capacity, you may count on 37.5 cubic feet of room behind the rear seats, which is excellent for the segment. On the other hand, the overall volume goes up to 65.4 cubic feet, which is less than you get from rivals like Nissan Rogue, Subaru Forester etc.
The upcoming refresh will bring a couple of big novelties in terms of standard and available equipment. One of the biggest novelties is definitely the new 13.2-inch infotainment screen, the same one that can be found in the refreshed Focus. However, this large screen will be reserved for higher trim levels, while the base models will come with an 8-inch unit, which has been optional so far. Base models will also feature goodies like a six-speaker stereo, USB ports, a Wi-Fi hot spot, a digital instrument cluster, smartphone integration etc.
On the other hand, higher trim levels should be offered with goodies like a panoramic sunroof, single- or dual-zone automatic climate control, push-button start, and remote start.
2024 Ford Escape Engines
We expect to see four familiar powertrain options on offer. Base models will continue with a 1.5-liter turbo three-cylinder engine, which puts out around 180 horsepower. For those who want something peppier, there is a 2.0-liter turbo-four with 250 horsepower, which offers significantly better performance. Both models come with 8-speed automatic transmission.
Hybrid models will also continue in the same way. So, you may count on a classic hybrid, which is based on a 2.5-liter engine, which puts out around 200 horsepower. Also, there is a plug-in hybrid version, which comes with more powerful electric motors and a bigger battery. As a result, the combined output goes up to 221 horsepower, while you may also count on 37 miles of the all-electric range. Unlike gasoline models, hybrid versions use a CVT gearbox.
2024 Ford Escape Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2024 Ford Escape will hit the market sometime in the second half of 2023. Base models should go around 27.500 dollars, while the hybrid version should start at around 34.000 dollars.
