2024 GMC Yukon Is Getting Mid-Cycle Refresh

Not so long ago, a three-year-old model was still considered pretty fresh in the automotive markets. However, these are different times and some companies already prepared mid-cycle refreshes for their models in the fourth production year. The 2024 GMC Yukon is a great example because it’s been around since 2021 and the company already prepares a facelift, which will bring changes not just in terms of styling, but in terms of interior design as well.

This model will get a good portion of styling enhancements. It will also get interior updates, while some sources even speculate about the possibility to see an off-road version called AT4X. On the other hand, the overall layout would remain the same and we would see a familiar SUV, that has a lot of great things to offer, starting from the spacious and comfortable cabin, long list of standard and available features, broad range of powertrain options etc.

We presume that the 2024 GMC Yukon will arrive sometime in the second half of the year.

2024 GMC Yukon Design

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2024 GMC Yukon is getting a mid-cycle refresh and it looks like it will be a pretty major. The test mule has already been spotted on the road and it wears a lot of camouflage on both ends of the vehicle. Therefore, we expect to see a lot of updates at the front, things like a bolder and wider grille, along with new headlights. Both should take a lot of inspiration from the updated GMC Sierra pickup. The rear end should bring some revisions to the tailgate, along with a new rear bumper, as well as new exhaust pipes.

Another very interesting thing we noticed on the test mule is a new set of wheels. There are massive 24-inch rims, which should be offered in the highest trim levels. For reference, the current model has the biggest wheels 22 inches in diameter.

Interior

This mid-cycle refresh will be more than just a facelift. We also expect to see interior updates and the latest spy shots clearly indicate that novelties are coming to the inside as well. Namely, the 2024 GMC Yukon interior also features some camouflage, particularly on the dashboard, which means we could see some revisions in terms of the center stack design, as well as a new infotainment screen. A new steering wheel is another thing we expect to see.

Of course, we will also see typical mid-cycle updates, such as new color schemes and materials. On the other hand, the seating configuration will remain the same, with three very generous rows of seats. The cargo volume is bigger than the one in Ford Expedition or Chevy Tahoe, while you can also opt for the long-wheelbase version and get even more room.

2024 GMC Yukon Engines

Unlike the rest of the vehicle, this aspect probably won’t get bigger changes. Instead, we expect to see a familiar powertrain lineup, with three engine options on offer. So, base models will continue with a 5.3-liter V8, which puts out around 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque.

While the base V8 has enough power to move this large SUV confidently, we would still rather go for the optional 6.2-liter V8, which puts out around 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.

The 3.0-liter inline-six turbodiesel is another great choice, especially if you want to save some money on fuel. This version returns around 21 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway but, at the same time, you may count on a pretty impressive 460 pound-feet of torque, which is enough to move this SUV with ease.

All engines come coupled with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

2024 GMC Yukon AT4X

One of the most anticipated novelties for the 2024 GMC Yukon refresh is the AT4X version. This model would come as an upgraded variant of the AT4, with additional off-road features. We presume we would see further suspension upgrades, locking differentials, more capable tires etc. – pretty much the same scenario we saw in the recently updated Sierra.

Of course, you may also count on all those features from the AT4, which means standard four-wheel-drive, low-range gearing, hill-descent control, skid plates and many more. Also, we count on a couple of exclusive styling details, which would make this SUV look rugged and more off-road ready.

2024 GMC Yukon Release Date and Price

Considering the number of changes, we presume that the 2024 GMC Yukon would arrive a little bit earlier than usual. Still, we don’t expect to see it before the second half of the year. We might also see a slight price increase, though base models should remain under 60k.
