2024 Honda Prologue: What We Know So Far

Honda – a company famous for making some of the best internal-combustion engines in the world has finally accepted the fact that things in the automotive industry are changing. The era of gasoline engines will end soon and what’s behind it is mostly about electrification. So, the Japanese manufacturer is preparing its first of many electric cars for the U.S. market. From what we know so far, the new model will come as the 2024 Honda Prologue.

As the name suggests, this will be the first chapter in the company’s electrification process. It is planned to go at a much higher speed after the initial Prologue hits the market. According to the officials, the company expects that 40% of the lineup will be all-electric by 2030, ending with 80% by 2035.

2024 Honda Prologue Design

Honda is one of the rare car manufacturers that do things completely on its own. However, this will change very soon, as the new electric models will use technology from General Motors. The new partnership refers mostly to technical solutions and the 2024 Honda Prologue should be the first model to ride on GM’s platform and use its batteries and electric motors.

As you may presume, we are talking about GM’s new EV architecture, which is commonly known as Ultium. This platform is highly modular and supports a wide range of battery capacities. In this particular case, we expect that most parts will be the same as in the upcoming 2023 Cadillac Lyriq.

Powertrain and Battery

As we’ve just said, the new 2024 Honda Prologue will use GM’s technology, and that primarily refers to the drivetrain and battery. As the new Ultium technology allows the use of various battery capacities, there are numerous possibilities for the setup. Still, we presume that the battery would be the same one as for the Lyriq, which is about to come with a 100-kWh battery back. That would ensure the max range of at least 300 miles. Of course, various kinds of charging options will be supported, including a fast-charging option.

On the other hand, details about electric motors are still unavailable. We presume that base versions would come with a single electric motor, mounted on the rear axle. AWD versions should come too, with the additional electric motor at the front.

2024 Honda Prologue Exterior and Interior

These aspects of the 2024 Honda Prologue are still a mystery for now. The only thing we know for sure is that these aspects of the car will be designed by Honda. So, while the mechanics will be from GM, the rest of the car will be the product of Honda engineers.

What we expect to see is a typical SUV layout, as that’s the most popular body style in today’s automotive industry. The new model will probably be a compact crossover, though we wouldn’t exclude the possibility to see mid-size proportions. In any case, we count on a completely new styling, which should establish Honda’s new design language, which will be used for other EV models in the future.

The inside is a total mystery right now. We don’t have any clue about the dashboard look and overall cabin layout. Still, we presume that Honda will stick to its recognizable philosophy, which is mostly about making things simple and functional. Still, we would definitely expect to see a full load of the latest tech features. When it comes to interior space and seating capacity, we expect to see two rows and five seats. Since the battery will be positioned under the floor, the passenger space won’t be compromised.

2024 Honda Prologue Release Date and price

We believe that the 2024 Honda Prologue will hit the market in the last quarter of 2023 or in the first quarter of 2024. Some sources speculate about the starting price of around 45.000 dollars but we believe it’s still early to talk about these things.
