It’s been almost a decade since the last redesign of the legendary Cherokee. Meanwhile, many things change in the automotive industry but this SUV still looks surprisingly fresh. However, not all aspects of the vehicle managed to age well. The interior looks old and, more importantly, the platform is quite uncompetitive, especially when it comes to driving experience and implementation of the latest technologies. Therefore, it looks like this compact SUV finally got its turn for an overhaul, to come as the 2024 Jeep Cherokee, after the company’s been busy in the last few years with the new Grand Cherokee, Wagoneer etc.

2024 Jeep Cherokee Redesign

Technically, it won’t be a completely new platform, but a highly modified variant of the well-known Giorgio platform. So much modified that it will be an FWD-biased setup, which seems quite intriguing if we consider that the Giorgio platform has been reserved exclusively for RWD-biased cars.
In any case, it will bring significant upgrades and improvements over the outgoing generation, especially in things like driving characteristics, efficiency and implementation of new technologies.
Exterior
As for the exterior design, we still haven’t got a chance to spot a test mule. So, the best we can do is rely on unofficial renderings, which can be found in a good number these days on the internet. They show a more rugged, Grand Cherokee- and Wagoneer-inspired design.
We presume that the new generation would feature a longer wheelbase, which would certainly bring many benefits on the inside. Still, the overall dimensions shouldn’t change, which indicates that the overhangs should be shorter, which will certainly have a positive effect on the overall off-road potential. Speaking of the off-road potential, the new generation should be as competent as the outgoing model, if not even more. Interior
this is certainly one of the weakest points of the current generation. Simply, ten years is a long period, so the current dashboard looks outdated, despite the recent updates we’ve seen in terms of tech features. Things should be much better in the next-generation model, which should utilize much nicer materials, in combination with more attractive aesthetics.
As mentioned, the next generation could easily come with a longer wheelbase, which would certainly have a positive effect on the interior space. The current model already accommodates adults with ease in both rows, so we expect nothing less from the new model. Also, we would be glad to see more cargo space behind the second row, considering that the outgoing model isn’t particularly generous.
2024 Jeep Cherokee Engines
Big changes are expected under the hood as well. First of all, the 3.2-liter V6 will certainly be discontinued. Base models will most likely come with a familiar 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.
Still, the turbo-four won’t be the only powertrain option on offer. Instead, higher trim levels will probably come with some sort of electrification. Some sources even speculate about the hybrid version, which would feature similar specs to the recently introduced PHEV variant of the Grand Cherokee.
