2024 Jeep Wrangler Coming With Full Load of Updates

The 2024 Jeep Wrangler is getting important updates and we’ve just got a chance to take a closer look at the prototype and see what will be the main changes for the next year’s model, which should make this legend more competitive in the segment where the revived Ford Bronco is the key competitor, but when the popular Toyota 4Runner is about to get a full redesign in the near future. In any case, the update is quite comprehensive and it doesn’t include just minor exterior tweaks, as you may see in the photos.

Changes will be introduced in other aspects as well. For example, the interior will be revised and one of the changes will be a new infotainment system. Also, the company will make the plug-in hybrid version more affordable, by offering it in lower trim levels. Finally, there is the new Rubicon X trim level, with even more off-road features and the optional plug-in hybrid powertrain.

let’s talk about visual updates first. As you can see in the pictures, they aren’t significant. The overall shape remains the same while the key difference is the new grille. As expected, the 2024 Jeep Wrangler adopted the new version of the seven-slot grille with a new mesh pattern, which was presented for the first time last year in the 20th Anniversary Rubicon concept.

Other than that, you won’t notice any major changes, because Jeep decided to play safe, which is the only way you can play with such a legend, which hasn’t changed his aesthetical approach for decades.

New Interior

Besides exterior updates, this refresh also brings some novelties on the inside. As mentioned, the first thing you’ll notice inside the 2024 Jeep Wrangler is the new infotainment system. All models are expected to come standard with the new 12.3-inch touchscreen, which also comes with the next-generation, Uconnect 5 infotainment system. The benefits of the new system are numerous, starting from the better menu navigation, and more connectivity features, including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, for the first time in Wrangler.

Also, the cabin has been upgraded with new materials, which feel nicer and more premium, while the center stack also received some revisions, due to the much larger infotainment screen. Just like the current model, the 2024 Jeep Wrangler will also come in two familiar body styles, either as a two- or four-door SUV.

2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Will Be Available in Lower Trims

Another important novelty is that the plug-in hybrid version, known as the Wrangler 4xe, will become available in lower trim levels. More precisely, it will become available in the Sport S trim, which is the second lowest trim in Wrangler’s lineup. So far, the cheapest way to get a plug-in hybrid Wrangler was in the Sahara trim level.

Other than that, we don’t expect any notable changes in terms of the powertrain options and their availability. So, the offer will start with a good-old 3.6-liter V6, which puts out around 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, and which is also available with a manual transmission, besides the excellent 8-speed automatic.

The first upgrade comes in the form of a 2.0-liter turbo-four, which offers less power but more torque than the V6. It is good for about 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, and it is also more efficient than the base V6.

The aforementioned plug-in hybrid will continue without changes. So, you may count on a powertrain that combines the same turbo-four engine with an electric motor, for a total system output of 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. Also, the large battery pack ensures up to 21 miles of all-electric range.

Finally, there is the massive and super-capable 6.4-liter V8, offered in the Rubicon 392, which is good for about 475 horsepower and it is the fastest Wrangler ever produced.

New Rubicon X Trim

Another big novelty for the next year is the new trim level called Rubicon X. This model has a couple of interior upgrades but more importantly, it brings various off-road upgrades. Some of the highlights are the new, full-float Dana rear axle, which allows the installation of bigger wheels with ease. Furthermore, there is the new Rock-Trac full-time transfer case, along with 35-inch all-terrain tires with beadlock wheels, an integrated off-road camera and steel bumpers.

2024 Jeep Wrangler Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2024 Jeep Wrangler will arrive sometime in the second half of the year. The starting price will most likely increase and major websites like Car and Driver estimate that base models will cost around 35.000 dollars.
