These days, we can find a lot of reports that speculate about the future of this model. It is still unclear whether we are about to see the next generation or not but what’s pretty much certain thing is that the current generation will remain in production for some more time. It looks like the 2024 Land Rover Discovery Sport will probably be the final production model year of the current generation. Therefore, we don’t believe that more important updates could occur.
Instead, we expect to see a pretty familiar design, which still has a lot of great things to offer. The current generation has been around since 2019 and it’s still relatively fresh in most aspects. We like the model’s strong off-road performance, which comes in a combination with pretty impressive on-road manners. Also, the interior looks nice, while it’s worth mentioning that this is one of the only two Land Rovers that can accommodate up to seven passengers.
As there are no significant changes to come, we presume that the 2024 Land Rover Discovery Sport will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of 2023.
2024 Land Rover Discovery Sport Design
As we already mentioned, the 2024 Land Rover Discovery Sport will probably represent the final production year of the current, second generation, which has been around since 2019. This model represents the British carmaker in the segment of compact SUVs and besides the elegant styling, it also offers pretty impressive driving manners. Although not particularly athletic, this SUV is smooth and very comfortable.
What’s even more impressive is that this smoothness comes in a combination with pretty strong off-road performance. All-wheel drive is standard, just like hill descent control, All Terrain Progress Control (cruise control for off-road driving) and Terrain Response 2, which offers several off-road modes, such as Rock Crawl, General Driving, Grass/Gravel/Snow, Mud and Ruts, and Sand. Additionally, you can opt for Wade Sensing, which is something you can’t get in any other model in this class.
Interior changes are not expected, so the 2024 Land Rover Discovery Sport will offer a familiar cabin design, which still looks attractive and competitive in this pretty serious segment, where some of the key players are models like Mercedes-Benz GLC and BMW X3. The dashboard looks elegant, thanks to the combination of conservative aesthetics and nice materials, while there is also a decent amount of tech features, which makes everything look even more appealing.
This is a compact crossover, so two rows of seats are the standard configuration. Both of them are spacious and comfortable enough to accommodate adults in a nice fashion. Additionally, you can opt for the third row, which isn’t particularly generous with space. Moreover, it leaves you just a little bit over 5 cubic feet of cargo space. Speaking of the cargo space, you may count on about 26.6 cubic feet of space behind the second-row seats and 63.3 cubic feet of the total volume, which is pretty decent for the class.
Novelties in this aspect are always possible but we are pretty sure that most things will remain the same as in the current model. Therefore, all models should come standard with goodies like dual-zone climate control, a 10-inch touch screen, a six-speaker stereo, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, HD Radio, satellite radio, USB ports, Bluetooth and wireless device charging. Higher trim levels will offer upgrades like Activity Key, a 12- or 14-speaker Meridian audio system and a Wi-Fi hot spot.
The same thing is with driver-assistance features. So, base models should come with goodies like a rearview camera, traffic-sign recognition, forward collision warning, low-speed automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, driver drowsiness monitoring, parking sensors, adaptive cruise control etc. Also, count on options like surround-view camera, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, head-up display etc.
2024 Land Rover Discovery Sport Engine
We presume that the 2024 Land Rover Discovery Sport will come with just one powertrain option for the North American market. Of course, we are talking about a familiar 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out 246 horsepower. The engine comes in pair with a 9-speed automatic transmission and the overall performance is pretty decent. There’s a lot of passing power, though the transmission could be slightly quicker.
When it comes to fuel economy, you may count on about 19 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway, which is a little bit disappointing for the segment. The max towing capacity goes up to 4.500 pounds.
2024 Land Rover Discovery Sport Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2024 Land Rover Discovery Sport will arrive sometime in the last quarter of 2023, with a starting price of around 46.000 dollars.
