2024 Lotus Eletre SUV is Coming – But With Electric Drivetrain

As its name suggests, the 2024 Lotus Eletre SUV will be an electric model. We didn’t see this coming. No one did. When Ferrari announced that they are building an SUV, rumors about other exotic carmakers entering this segment started swirling. Lotus SUV was one of the first models you could hear about. But, fans expected to see a performance-oriented vehicle with a hefty price. Instead of that, we are getting an electric SUV under $100,000.

So far, we know the 2024 Lotus Eletre SUV will be available in Europe only. The British carmaker unveiled some details and even a few spy photos can show us what will the new vehicle look like. Three trim levels are going to be available. As expected, the Lotus SUV will put out incredible power outputs. But, drive is not the same with electric motors and petrol engines. And one of the biggest surprises is the price. Again, we can’t compare European and US versions with all the taxes and costs included. But, the Lotus Eletre won’t be as expensive as fans suspected.

Specifications

The SUV is still going to deliver incredible 0-60 mph times. Even the base version is pretty fast. A 112 kWh battery pack produces 600 hp and 525 lb-ft of torque and sends them to all wheels. Acceleration 0-60 mph takes only 4.5 seconds. Still, that is not a top five result and Lotus needs to prove its sports image. So, a more potent configuration bursts 905 hp and 725 lb-ft and drops the 0-60 acceleration time to 2.7 seconds. The company is setting some challenges for rivals. Even Tesla Model X with the Ludicrous Mode can’t do that, and no other electric SUV in 2024. Max speed of the Lotus SUV will be 165 mph.

2024 Lotus Eletre SUV Range

Since the 2024 Lotus Eletre SUV is an electric model, there is another important moment – the range of the electric battery. Impressive outputs, stunning performance, and exceptional range – all in one if you buy this vehicle. Fully charged, this SUV can cover 373 miles. Optional upgrades can cost you some range. Anyway, the Lotus Eletre will make it up with an even sportier ride. Fast charger supports up to 350 kW rate.

The production takes place in China. Nevertheless, most of the development is being done in Germany. To handle so much power, the SUV will need a lot of improvements. Brakes, suspension, and styling details – everything will be practical. Experts predict that the curb weight of the 2024 Lotus Eletre SUV will be around 5,500 pounds. Above this mark you will mostly find full-size SUVs and heavily-loaded luxury models.

Pricing

Surprisingly, the new Lotus Eletre is not going to cost a fortune. Well, at least not $300k+. The base version should start somewhere between $80,000-$85,000. It is still a lot of money. But, there are plenty of other SUVs in the six-digit price realm, and this is Lotus. All in all, it will be interesting to see the Eletre at dealerships next year. The company didn’t announce the release date, but it should be 2024 YM. High-end versions will be priced over $120k.
