Is Dodge bringing back the 2022 Ramcharger?

Just a few years ago, many experts believed that genuine body-on-frame SUVs will be replaced with unibody crossovers almost completely. However, they neglect the niche of off-road enthusiasts, which is growing pretty fast these days. So, it’s no wonder that Ford has brought back the Bronco, while the Wrangler is popular again. After all, even the outdated 4runner marks some really impressive sales numbers. All this led many experts to believe that FCA could introduce another genuine off-road, with the legendary nameplate. Of course, we are thinking of the 2022 Dodge Ramcharger, which would be a hell of a comeback.

Is Dodge bringing back the 2022 Ramcharger? At this point, it’s really hard to say. Even though we can hear a lot of rumors that suggest such a thing, the fact is that the officials are still quiet on this matter. Still, the fact is that the market for off-road SUVs is growing and that there is plenty enough space for a model that would carry an iconic nameplate from the past.

2022 Dodge Ramcharger Design

Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is how the 2022 Dodge Ramcharger would look like. Mechanically, there is no room for surprises. We would see the same or very similar layout to the current-generation Ram 1500. The two models would share the platform, while we presume that the 2022 Ram Ramcharger would compete in the full-size segment, considering that FCA already offers the Wrangler in the compact and mid-size SUV class.

When it comes to styling, we should once again look at the popular pickup truck. We expect to see the same front end, with the same headlights and grille, though with some exclusive details as well. Most likely, the new SUV would have most things in common with Ram Rebel, when it comes to the front face. When it comes to the rest of the body, we count on a classic SUV layout, while some sources suggest that both 2-door and 4-door versions could be in the offer.

Engines and Specs

When it comes to the powertrain, things with FCA are pretty simple these days. The more engines in offer – the better. Therefore, we presume that several engine options would find the place under the hood of the 2022 Ram Ramcharger. Base models would probably feature a familiar 3.6-liter V6, which is good for about 305 horsepower. Still, the real deal will start with V8 engines and the 5.7-liter HEMI unit is first in the line. It delivers around 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque, which sound quite adequate for an SUV like this.

2022 Dodge Ramcharger SRT (Possible Hellcat Engine?)

We strongly believe that Dodge would also come up with some hi-performance versions in the offer. The legendary Apache is the first engine that comes to mind. Of course, we are talking about the 6.4-liter HEMI V8, which would be reserved for the SRT 392 version, with a max output of 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque.

Naturally, the top of the offer would be reserved for the 2022 Dodge Ramcharger SRT Hellcat, equipped with the monstrous 6.2-liter Supercharge Hellcat engine, which would use the same version of the engine as the Ram Rebel TRX. We are talking about the max output of 702 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque.

As you may presume, these two performance versions would come with many other upgrades, both in terms of mechanics and aesthetics.

New Interior for the 2022 Dodge Ramcharger

Interior design plays an important role in every segment of the automotive segment these days. This includes off-roaders as well. So, we have no doubt that Dodge designed will put a lot of effort into this aspect of the 2022 Dodge Ramcharger as well. Of course, the Ram 1500 will serve as the basis, with its upscale cabin that utilizes high-quality materials and great overall build quality. Let’s not forge a long list of tech features too, including the large, vertically-oriented 12.0-inch touchscreen, which is available as an option.

The Ramcharger’s cabin probably wouldn’t be much different, at least when it comes to the dashboard design. We count on a pretty similar design, with the same amount of tech goodies and fine materials. The Ramcharger will be a pretty big SUV, so we count on a lot of passenger space as well. Base models would probably come as 5-seaters, while the third row would be optional. A big cargo area is expected too.

Price and Release Date: Is Dodge Coming Out With a new 2022 Ramcharger?

Although there is still no word from the officials, many believe that this comeback could happen already in about a year or two. When it comes to the price, the base 2022 Dodge Ramcharger would probably cost around 45-50.000 dollars, though it’s still early for such estimations.
