2024 Nissan Murano Redesign: What We Know So Far

Despite being the oldest model in the segment, the current-generation Murano still has a couple of good things to offer, starting from super-comfy seats, good interior quality and a smooth ride. However, it started to show its age a long time ago and now lags behind rivals in many aspects. That’s why everyone expects a redesign in the near future. According to the latest rumors, that could happen already in the next year, with the 2024 Nissan Murano. The officials are still quiet, so make sure to take the following paragraphs with a reserve.

We expect a lot of changes from this redesign but we also count on an evolutionary approach in some aspects. The latter particularly refers to mechanics, as we expect the new model to ride on a familiar (but updated) platform and feature the same engine. On the other hand, we would expect to see new transmission, along with new aesthetics, improved cargo space and new tech and convenience features.

2024 Nissan Murano Redesign

As we’ve just mentioned, some aspects of this redesign will bring evolutionary changes. This particularly refers to mechanics, as we expect the 2024 Nissan Murano to continue riding on the good-old D platform. However, we also expect notable updates, similar to those we saw in the new Pathfinder. As a result, the new Murano should offer improved ride quality, better handling, better towing capacity etc.

Also, we believe that this redesign will bring new technologies and open up new possibilities. This refers to an advanced safety system, but also to the ability to accommodate an electrified powertrain. The new model probably won’t come with an all-electric powertrain but on the other hand, a hybrid setup seems quite possible.

Exterior

Of course, we count on a completely new exterior design and we presume that exterior dimensions won’t change significantly. The current wheelbase measures around 111.2 inches and it probably won’t be much longer, while the rest of the measurements should remain similar as well.

On the other hand, we expect to see completely new styling. The current generation has been around for almost a decade, so there’s no doubt that aesthetic changes will be significant. We count on the implementation of the brand’s new design language, something we already saw in models like Pathfinder, Rogue etc. So, the new 2024 Nissan Murano should look more aggressive than before, while the boxier and bolder design should also bring benefits in terms of cargo space and overall practicality.

Interior

The current model’s interior aged with grace. Yes, there are some signs of outdated aesthetics but the overall interior design is still pretty competitive. That’s mostly because of the nice materials and good build quality. So, we expect the new generation to bring further improvements in these aspects and also to bring new, more attractive dashboard designs. Furthermore, we count on new tech goodies, such as a new infotainment system, new connectivity features, new safety systems, and more.

In terms of seating and overall comfort, the current model is already impressive. It offers probably the best front seats in the class, so we expect nothing less from the new generation. The current model is also very spacious in the second row, so we presume that Nissan designers won’t change many things in this area either.

On the other hand, we do expect to see improvements regarding cargo space. Simply, the current model offers around 32.1 cubic feet of space behind the second row and a maximum of 67 cubic feet of the total cargo volume, which is below average for a mid-size SUV.

2024 Nissan Murano Engine

When it comes to the powertrain, we presume that the current 3.5-liter V6 will remain on offer. However, it will probably get a little bit more power to improve performance. More importantly, we expect to see a 9-speed automatic transmission instead of the current CVT, and that should significantly improve the overall driving experience. Not only that such a change would make the ride more convenient, but it would also have a positive impact on towing capacity.

Some sources also speculate about the hybrid version. Allegedly, Nissan could implement its new technology called ePower, which takes a little bit different approach to the hybrid powertrain. In this case, a capable electric motor would power the wheels, while the gasoline engine would work as a power generator.

2024 Nissan Murano Release Date and Price

The next-generation 2024 Nissan Murano still waits for official confirmation but rumors suggest it could come already in the second half of the next year. When it comes to price, we presume that base models would cost a little bit over 35.000 dollars. Key competitors would be models like Honda Passport, Chevy Blazer, Hyundai Santa Fe etc.
