2022 GMC Yukon Preview: Specs and Features

After the recent redesign, we do not doubt that the 2022 GMC Yukon will continue without more important changes. Simply, the recent overhaul has brought tons of novelties. The new model looks way better, rides better and offers much more comfort. Also, there is a new platform that provides significant weight savings. Considering all these things, it’s easy to conclude that the best we could see for the next year are minor changes in terms of new standard features, new color options and similar things.

All in all, you may count on an attractive full-size SUV, which is powerful and easy to drive. Also, it offers plenty of passenger room, as well as class-leading numbers in terms of cargo volume. Of course, the list of standard equipment is pretty long, while you can also get a special version like the luxurious Denali, or the off-road-oriented AT4, both characterized by plenty of unique features.

As there are no bigger changes to come, we presume that the launch date will be scheduled for the end of the year.

2022 GMC Yukon Design

In terms of base design characteristics, we definitely don’t expect to see any particular changes. The new generation looks great in every aspect. Compared to the previous model, it is lighter and more efficient, as well as more comfortable. A big thanks goes to the standard independent rear suspension, which also has a positive impact on handling and cargo volume.

Styling-wise, we don’t expect surprises either. The new styling looks pretty amazing and we can all agree that this is one of the best-looking full-size SUVs on the market. Furthermore, there is also the flagship Denali trim, which comes with a unique grille, wheels and many other details. The 2022 GMC Yukon AT4 will also continue with its unique styling, as well as with a quite big pack of off-road upgrades.

Interior

The new cabin looks pretty good. Compared to the previous generation, materials are nicer, while the build quality is also at a higher level. The cabin also looks pretty attractive and a long list of tech goodies makes it look even more upscale. Furthermore, the Denali model comes with a completely different dashboard design, which is designed in a more classic manner and also offers even finer materials. We particularly like the fact that the infotainment screen is integrated into the dash.

The overall quality is great but the aspect where this SUV really impresses is space. All three rows of seats are really generous and even the third one accommodates adults with ease. The cargo area is even more impressive and offers class-leading numbers. You may count on about 25.5 cubic feet of space behind the third-row seats, 72.6 cubic feet with the third-row seats folded down and 122.9 cubic feet of the total cargo volume.

Features

We don’t expect that the 2022 GMC Yukon could come with more than a couple of new things on the list of standard equipment. So, most of the things are about to remain the same as in the current model, which comes standard with goodies like tri-zone climate control, a 10.2-inch touch screen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, six speakers, satellite radio, HD Radio, a Wi-Fi hot spot, six USB ports, Bluetooth, remote start etc. The list of options currently includes features like a moonroof, power-sliding center console, navigation and a rear-seat entertainment system.

The current list of standard safety features include a rearview camera, a rear-seat reminder, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, front and rear parking sensors. Also, you can pay extra for goodies like a head-up display, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, rear cross traffic alert, a rear camera mirror, rear pedestrian alert etc.

2022 GMC Yukon Engines

This aspect definitely won’t bring changes. You may count on three familiar engine options in the offer, which includes two gasoline and one diesel option. Base models use a 5.3-liter V8 engine, which puts out around 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. While that’s enough to move this large SUV confidently, we would still rather go for the optional 6.2-liter unit, which puts out around 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. This version is faster and more capable.

On the other side, there is also a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6. Compared to gasoline units, it offers notably less power, around 277. However, its massive 460 pound-feet of torque allows it to move this SUV with ease. Also, the fuel economy is notably better.

All three engines come in pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission, which is smooth and shifts on time.

2022 GMC Yukon Release Date and Price

As there are no bigger changes to come, we presume that the next year’s model will hit the market in the last quarter of 2021. When it comes to the 2022 GMC Yukon price, base models should go around 51.000 dollars. Key competitors are models like Toyota Sequoia, Nissan Armada, Ford Expedition etc.
