2023 GMC Sierra Preview: Specs, Changes, Release Date

After the last-years significant refresh, which has brought so many interesting novelties, we are pretty sure that the 2023 GMC Sierra will come without more important changes. We expect to see a familiar design, which now looks way better, especially from the inside. Of course, minor updates are always possible, in terms of new color options and new standard features, but the overall design will certainly remain the same.

Therefore, you may count on familiar pros and cons. This pickup offers a lot of great things, starting from a muscular exterior design, elegant interior, smooth ride and lots of tech features. On the other hand, we don’t like the fact that the starting price is higher compared to rivals, while certain features are limited to range-topping models only.

As there are no significant changes to come, we expect that the 2023 GMC Sierra will hit the market sometime late in the year.

2023 GMC Sierra Design

As we already mentioned, the recent update has brought a lot of new things, so we don’t believe that the 2023 GMC Sierra could bring more important changes. We expect to see a familiar design, based on GM’s T1 platform and design that has a lot of things in common with Chevy Silverado.

Visually, the recent refresh has brought a lot of new things. Of course, the most prominent are those changes at the front, which make this truck look bolder and more rugged. Furthermore, the Denali trim continues with its exclusive details, which are now better than ever.

Another pretty unique trim is the AT4, as well as the new AT4X. Both models feature pretty unique exterior trim, as well as a lot of off-road features. This particularly refers to the AT4X model. This one comes standard with goodies like front and rear locking differentials, special suspension components, upgraded tires and similar things.

Interior

The interior update was the highlight of the recent refresh. We saw a completely new cabin design, finally. You can easily notice that the new dashboard looks way more upscale, thanks to the use of high-quality materials and much nicer aesthetics. Furthermore, there is a generous amount of tech and convenience features, which make this cabin look even more upscale. Also, the recent refresh has also brought some improvements regarding ergonomics. The shifter is finally in the place it should be. Instead of being mounted on a steering column, it is now on the center console and works much better.

2023 GMC Sierra Interior

Considering all these updates, it’s quite obvious that the 2023 GMC Sierra interior will continue in the same way. This refers to cab styles as well, which come in three familiar variants. The same thing goes for cargo beds.

Features

When it comes to standard features, we don’t expect bigger changes either. Therefore, base models will come standard with an 8-inch infotainment screen, while all other trims will feature a massive 13.4-inch touchscreen, as well as a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Also, all but the base model will come standard with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as with Google installed software, which allows the use of app stores, maps etc. Among available equipment, you can also find a premium 12-speaker audio system, wireless charging, Wi-Fi hotspot and many other things.

Another thing to like about this pickup is a long list of safety and driver-assistance features. All models will come standard with things like a rearview camera, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, etc. On the other hand, the Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system will remain exclusive to the Denali trim.

2023 GMC Sierra Engines

The engine lineup will remain unchanged. Therefore, base models will come with a 2.7-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 310 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. Of course, there are also two familiar V8 units. The first one is a 5.3-liter V8, which puts out around 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. The other one is a well-known 6.2-liter V8, which puts out 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.

The 2023 GMC Sierra will also continue with a 3.0-liter inline-six turbodiesel on the offer, with a max output of 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. This engine is quite capable and also offers excellent fuel economy, which goes around 21 mpg in the city and 28 pound-feet of torque.

The base engine comes coupled with 8-speed automatic transmission, while the rest of the lineup uses a 10-speed unit. When properly equipped, this pickup can tow up to 13.200 pounds.
