2024 Acura ADX: Brand-New Entry-Level EV SUV

Honda’s luxury division is already working on a couple of new, all-electric models. Of course, most of them will come in the form of crossovers and the first one to come is the ZDX, which will be a compact SUV, similarly sized to the RDX. Furthermore, the company prepares another model, which will arrive soon after. That model will come as the 2024 Acura ADX and it will be smaller and more affordable. At this point, we are still waiting for the officials to find out more precise details.

On the other hand, there are some things that are quite easy to predict. Once again, Honda will rely on GM’s battery technology, on the so-called Ultium platform. A lot of the parts will be borrowed from the American carmaker but the styling, interior and chassis setup will be done by Acura. Also, we are pretty sure that the new model will be offered both in single and dual-motor versions.

The launch date is expected to be scheduled for the second half of 2023.

2024 Acura ADX Design

The Japanese carmaker still keeps most details a secret, so we can rely mostly on rumors and speculations. At this point, one of the rare things we know for sure is that the new model will ride on GM’s BEV3 platform. This is the latest architecture from the American company, which brings a lot of advanced tech solutions, particularly in terms of charging and general battery technology.

On the other hand, most experts expect that the Japanese manufacturer will do the chassis setup on its own. In that way, it will ensure that the 2024 Acura ADX will be able to offer a premium driving experience, with both engaging handling and comfortable ride.

Exterior

When it comes to exterior design, the first thing we should talk about is size. This model will be the smallest in the EV lineup, a subcompact crossover. Therefore, we expect that the exterior dimensions will be smaller compared to the RDX, and probably slightly bigger than the Honda HR-V.

In any case, we count on pretty attractive and aggressive styling. In a typical Acura manner, the lines should be sharp and aggressive, while there is no doubt that the recently presented Precision concept will serve as inspiration in a pretty decent portion. More details will be known once we see the test mule and first renderings.

Interior

When it comes to interior design, it’s still early to talk details. Considering the expected dimensions, we may expect a sufficient amount of legroom in both rows. The new model should be able to accommodate adults in both rows pretty easily. Considering that the battery will be placed under the floor, the passenger space won’t be compromised. Also, we count on a decently-sized cargo area, with a typical volume for the class.

When it comes to the dashboard and overall cabin design, it’s still early for predictions. The Precision concept came with a hyper-futuristic design, so we are pretty sure that it won’t have a big impact on the overall cabin design. Things should be toned down significantly, but we are pretty sure that the Japanese manufacturer will follow the latest trends in the EV world and offer a dashboard that’s simple and relies mostly on touchscreen controls.

2024 Acura ADX Drivetrain and Battery

As you probably know, Honda won’t have its battery technology ready before 2026. Therefore, the initial models will use GM’s technology. Of course, this primarily refers to the Ultium battery technology, which offers great flexibility regarding battery capacity and advanced charging options.

The Ultium battery can feature a capacity between 50 and 200kWh. In this case, it’s still early for the capacity numbers but on the other hand, we can find predictions for the max range. Most of them suggest that base models will be able to make around 250 miles on a single charge, while long-range variants will go over 300. When it comes to charging speed, the DC fast charging should go all away up to 300kW, which promises pretty impressive charging performance.

When it comes to the drivetrain, base versions will probably come with a single electric motor, mounted on the front axle. That unit should be good for about 240 horsepower, which should ensure more than decent performance. On the other hand, higher trim levels could be offered with a dual-motor setup. In that case, we would see a max output of around 340 horsepower, rumors suggest.
