2024 Kia EV9: Three-Row EV SUV on the Way

The Korean carmaker was one of the first automotive companies to start with the development of advanced battery technologies. As a result, there are already several EVs in the lineup, while many more are coming. One of them is the 2024 Kia EV9, which is expected to arrive sometime in the next year. This will be the company’s new electric car and this time, we are about to see a large three-row SUV, something much bigger than everything we have in the company’s lineup right now.

The 2024 Kia EV9 should be heavily based on the 2021 concept. Of course, this primarily refers to the exterior and the overall design approach. On the other hand, the company will implement the latest achievements regarding battery technology, which will ensure super-fast charging, respectable range and strong performance. The latest reports suggest that the 2024 Kia EV9 will be significantly cheaper than other similarly-sized electric SUVs and that should be one of the biggest selling points of the new model.

2024 Kia EV9 Design

When it comes to base design characteristics, the 2024 Kia EV9 will be a three-row SUV. We presume that a lot of inspiration will be taken from the 2021 concept, which showed a pretty futuristic design that’s quite functional at the same time. Of course, the vehicle will ride on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), which already underpins the sporty EV6 model.

In terms of the exterior design, the previous concept brought an SUV that features a pretty similar overall shape to the conventional Telluride. The silhouette may be similar but on the other hand, the EV9 features a completely different suit, full of futuristic details. That’s particularly noticeable at the front and rear ends, where you can see a lot of influence from the EV6, especially in the areas like grille, headlights, taillights etc.

The production version should feature similar dimensions to the concept, which came with 122 inches in wheelbase, 194 inches in overall lengths, 70 inches in height and 81 inches in width.

Interior

When it comes to interior design, we expect things to be a little bit different in the production version. The concept came with a pretty futuristic layout, while the 2024 Kia EV9 would rather come with a more conventional design approach. Still, we do expect to see a typical EV dashboard, which is all about simplicity, with a clean design and a massive screen that replaces most of the physical controls.

On the other hand, what is certain thing is that the new SUV will feature three rows of seats. With 122 inches in wheelbase, it should be spacious enough to accommodate up to 8 passengers pretty easily. The first two rows will be generous with space and comfort, while the third row should also be quite functional.

2024 Kia EV9 Drivetrain and Battery

Thanks to the new E-GMP platform, the 2024 Kia EV9 will feature pretty advanced battery technology, which will support fast charging speeds of up to 350 kW. In practice, this means pretty fast charging with a DC unit. Some sources suggest that such a charging method will be able to charge 80% of the battery in just 20 to 30 minutes, while 100 miles of range would be added every 10 minutes.

On the other hand, the officials are still quiet about the numbers. When it comes to battery capacity, we presume that the Korean manufacturer will offer a capacity that can provide competitive autonomy. In this case, that would be over 300 miles.

When it comes to the drivetrain, we presume that both single- and dual-motor setups are possible. Some sources suggest that the most capable variants will be able to hit 60 in less than 5 seconds.

More details about the battery and drivetrain will come soon.

2024 Kia EV9 Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2024 Kia EV9 will arrive sometime in the next year, probably already in the first half. As we already mentioned, it should be significantly cheaper than other similarly sized EV SUVs. We estimate that base models could cost around 50.000 dollars, while the most expensive variants would probably go around $75.000.
