The all-electric Macan has been in talks for years and it is finally happening. The original plan was to introduce the new model in 2023 but, due to software supply issues, that’s been delayed for another year. So, we are now eagerly waiting for the 2024 Porsche Macan EV, which is about to bring a full load of novelties. The electric Macan will be significantly different compared to its ICE counterpart, starting from a completely different platform. However, this doesn’t mean that the conventional version will be discontinued once the new one arrives. Instead, the two models will coexist for some time.
In any case, the 2024 Porsche Macan EV will bring a lot of novelties, starting from the new platform. IT will come in, at least, two variants regarding the drivetrain, while the styling isn’t expected to be much different compared to the outgoing model.
As we already mentioned, the all-electric Macan will arrive sometime in 2024.
2024 Porsche Macan EV Design
When it comes to the base design, one of the most significant differences will be the platform. Instead of the good-old MLB architecture, the new model will ride on the company’s new PPE platform, codeveloped with Audi, which will be used for electric cars from two brands in the future. The new platform is pretty advanced and supports pretty impressive charging speeds, among other things.
One of the things worth mentioning about the 2024 Porsche Macan EV is the new suspension setup. Compared to the outgoing model, it will be more technologically advanced, with air components and a high level of adjustability. Another thing worth mentioning is the weight balance, which will be 48% at the front and 52% at the rear, according to the manufacturer.
When it comes to the exterior design, we can clearly see that the test mule isn’t much different than the conventional ICE Macan. Simply, the aesthetics are rather similar, with minor differences in terms of headlights, grille and other minor details. The overall shape looks largely the same, while we also count on pretty similar dimensions.
2024 Porsche Macan EV Drivetrain, Battery, Performance
Of course, the main thing about the 2024 Porsche Macan EV will be its drivetrain and battery setup. Thanks to the advanced PPE platform, the new crossover will feature pretty impressive 800-v battery technology, which will ensure pretty impressive charging speed. The exact details are still unknown but it is expected that all versions will come with a 100-kWh battery pack. We presume this would be enough for about 350 miles on a single charge. Allegedly, we will be able to charge 80% of the battery in about 20 minutes.
When it comes to the drivetrain, we know that the most capable version will feature a dual-motor setup, with a max output of around 603 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque, which is significantly more compared to the currently most capable version of Macan, which puts out around 434 horsepower needs 4.3 seconds to hit 60 mph.
Interior
At this point, it is still early to talk about interior details. Still, we may presume that the new dashboard design will come in a simplistic manner, with a bit of inspiration taken from the Taycan. Of course, we count on all kinds of advanced tech goodies, starting from a massive infotainment screen on the center stack.
The overall size shouldn’t be significantly different compared to the ICE model, so we presume that the amount of passenger space will also be pretty similar. On the other hand, the cargo area could be a little bit smaller, but still decent enough for an EV SUV.
2024 Porsche Macan EV and Macan ICE Will Co-Exist
As we’ve just mentioned, the all-new 2024 Porsche Macan EV will arrive sometime in 2024. However, that doesn’t mean that the current model, powered by internal combustion engines, will be discontinued immediately. Instead, the two models will coexist and the outgoing generation should remain in production for several more years. You may count on a familiar design, as well as the familiar powertrain lineup, which ranges from a 261-hp turbo-four to a pretty capable GTS version, which features the legendary 2.9-liter V6, with a max output of 434 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque.
The price for the 2024 Porsche Macan EV is yet to be announced. On the other hand, the ICE version starts at around 58.000 dollars.
