2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC Redesign, Release Date and Price

The new generation of the company’s compact crossover has been spotted in testing a while ago and it looks like it is going to hit the market as the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC. The current generation has been around for six years, so this seems like good timing, especially if we consider that the competition is getting tougher every year. Therefore, the amount of novelties and improvements we expect to see is pretty big.

At this point, the company still keeps most details a secret. However, a good thing is that the new C Class has been launched this February, so we know what to expect in some of the aspects. This particularly refers to the platform, engine options, interior design etc. We presume that the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC release date will be scheduled for the last quarter of the year.

2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC Redesign

At this point, it is still hard to talk about details. The testing model has been spotted but it still wears a camouflage. Still, we presume that the German manufacturer will implement the latest design language, considering that all of the recently redesigned models look pretty uniform. What we can definitely tell for sure is that the overall shape won’t be much different from the current model. A coupe version is expected as well.

Mechanically, we expect that the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC redesign will be based on the second generation of the familiar MRA platform. We don’t expect that the new model could become much bigger and that the wheelbase won’t be much longer compared to the current 113.1 inches. On the other side, we count on a lot of new technologies and design solutions, which will make the ride quality even better. Another certain thing is massive electrification. Allegedly, all powertrain options will use at least some form of a hybrid system.

Interior

When it comes to the interior design, we should look at the new C Class. We don’t believe that the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC interior could look any different, especially when it comes to the dashboard design. So, we expect to see the same couple of screens and an almost complete absence of physical controls.

Besides the luxury, the new model will offer a decent amount of space as well. We presume that things won’t change too much in this aspect and that both rows will be able to accommodate adults with ease. Of course, the couple version will offer less legroom and a smaller cargo area.

The powertrain lineup is one of the most intriguing aspects of the new 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC. We expect to see pretty big changes compared to the current generation, as all powertrain options are about to come with some form of electrifications. Base models will probably feature a 2.0-liter turbo-four, equipped with a mild-hybrid system. The total output should go around 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.

Plug-in hybrid powertrains are also a certain thing and they will replace current six-cylinder engines. Moreover, even the AMG version will come in a similar form. Instead of the meaty twin-turbo V8, we will see a plug-in hybrid setup, based on a four-cylinder engine. Unfortunately, details are still to come.

When it comes to transmission, all models will come with a 9-speed automatic gearbox. In parts of the world like Europe, diesel engines will still remain in the offer.

2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC Release Date and Price

We expect that the new model will hit showrooms in North America before the end of the year. When it comes to the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC price, base models should go around 45.000 dollars, roughly. Of course, the competition remains the same and includes models like Audi Q5, BMW X3, Volvo XC60 etc.
