2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Gets Stretched Version and Inline-Six Engine

After the last year’s revival of the legendary SUV, the second production year is also about to bring some pretty big novelties. More precisely, we are about to see two big novelties. The first one will be the stretched version called the 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, while the second big novelty will come in the form of a new inline-six engine, which will replace the old and thirsty V8. Other than that, we don’t expect to see bigger changes.

With all these novelties, the next year’s model will be even more competitive. The offer will be expanded, while the overall design characteristics and features will remain largely the same. This SUV offers a spacious and luxurious cabin, while the ride quality is amazing. We also like the driving dynamics, while the max towing capacity is the highest in the class.

Despite the changes, the 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer won’t hit the market much earlier than usual. We expect to see it this fall.

2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Design

As we’ve just mentioned, the biggest novelty for the next year will be the introduction of the 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L, which will compete with stretched versions of the Cadillac Escalade and Lincoln Navigator. Compared to the standard version, it will be notably bigger. It will feature 130 inches in wheelbase, which is 7 inches more than the standard model, while the total length will be increased by a foot.

On the other hand, the standard version will carry on without changes. This SUV rides on a body-on-frame platform but features a pretty impressive suspension setup, which provides impressive ride quality. At the same time, the Grand Wagoneer offers a high level of comfort and precise handling. Furthermore, the max towing capacity goes up to nearly 10.000 pounds, which is the highest in the class.

Interior

On the inside, the new 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L will provide more space, of course. While the passenger space is about to remain similar to the standard version, the cargo area will be increased significantly. You may count 44.2 cubic feet behind the third row, 88.8 cubic feet behind the second row and 130.9 cubic feet of the total cargo volume. For comparison, the standard Grand Wagoneer is good for about 27.4 cubic feet of space behind the third-row seats 70.9 cubic feet behind the second row and 116.7 cubic feet of the total volume.

On the other hand, the dashboard will look the same in both versions. You may count on a stylish design, complemented with high-quality materials and a lot of attention to detail. Furthermore, there is a generous amount of tech features, which makes the cabin look even better.

Features

We don’t believe that the 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer could bring bigger changes in this aspect. Therefore, base models should come standard with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12-inch touch screen, navigation, a 19-speaker McIntosh audio system, HD Radio, satellite radio, USB ports, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Bluetooth, Amazon Alexa, wireless device charging, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a tri-pane panoramic sunroof, quad-zone automatic climate control, remote start, and a 10.25-inch display in the second-row console. The current list of options includes goodies like an interactive front passenger display, a 23-speaker McIntosh audio system, and a dual-screen rear-seat entertainment system.

The same is with safety and driver-assistance features. Base models will come with goodies like a head-up display, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors, side distance warning, surround-view camera, parallel and perpendicular park assist etc.

2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Engines

Probably the biggest novelty that’s coming for the next year is the new engine. We are about to see a 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six, which will feature a max output of 500 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque. At this point we know for sure it will be the sole engine choice for the 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L.

On the other hand, things are a little bit unclear with the standard versions. Some sources suggest that the 6.4-liter HEMI V8 will remain on the offer for some more time. This unit features a max output of 471 horsepower and offers pretty impressive performance. On the other hand, the main drawback of this engine is poor fuel economy. It goes just around 13 mpg in the city and 18 mpg on the highway.
