Chevy’s popular compact crossover is about to get an all-electric iteration soon. The new model is almost production ready and it is expected to hit the market next year. We already know most of the details about the new 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV, including the fact that it will feature some pretty advanced technology solutions regarding charging and battery. It will be offered in two variants regarding drivetrain and the numbers look quite promising.

Another thing that looks promising is the price. According to the latest reports, the base 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV will cost under 30.000 dollars, which will make it the most affordable EV in the class. At the same time, the new model will offer a competitive range and performance, along with a high-quality interior and a full load of advanced tech features. Also, it’s worth mentioning that the new model will feature bigger dimensions and offer more passenger room than the ICE version.

2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV Design

The 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV will be an all-new model and despite the familiar nameplate, it won’t have too many things in common with the previous Equinox models. Instead of the D2, it will ride on the new BEV3 platform, which will implement the latest technologies in this compact crossover, including the Ultium battery technology, which will ensure fast charging speed and great power efficiency.

The new model will also feature bigger dimensions than its predecessor. We are about to see a 9-inches longer wheelbase, while the total length will go over 190 inches, which is 7 inches more than the current ICE model. Without any doubt, this will bring many benefits in terms of passenger space. Of course, the new model will also be significantly heavier, but the batter pack will be placed under the floor, which will lower the center of gravity and have a significant impact on handling.

Naturally, there is also the new styling, which brings some bits from the ICE model but also looks way more attractive. You can notice a pretty futuristic design approach, with super-narrow headlights, a massive bumper, a covered grille etc. The rear end follows the same design philosophy.

Interior

When it comes to interior design, the first thing you’ll notice is a big improvement regarding dashboard aesthetics. Previous ICE models were often criticized for dull interior designs and subpar build quality but it looks like that won’t be the case with the new model. The new dashboard features recognizable round vents but also comes with a significant upgrade in terms of tech features. There is a massive digital instrument cluster, along with the standard 11-inch infotainment screen. Higher trim levels will come standard with a large 17-inch infotainment screen.

What’s also worth mentioning is that the new model is bigger, which means that we may expect more space on the inside. Thanks to the significantly longer wheelbase (9 inches), we expect that the amount of legroom will be notably bigger, even though the current ICE model already stands pretty well in this aspect. Interestingly, the cargo area will actually be smaller, despite the bigger overall size. The total cargo volume will be 57 inches, which is nearly 7 inches less compared to the current gasoline version.

2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV Drivetrain, Battery, Range

From what we know so far, the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV will come in two variants regarding drivetrain. Base models will come with a single electric motor, mounted on the front axle, with a max output of 210 horsepower. Besides the FWD version, we also count on the AWD model, which will come with the additional electric motor on the rear axle and total output of 290 horsepower.

When it comes to the battery, the new model will feature the company’s latest Ultium technology, which supports a wide range of battery capacities. We still didn’t find out the exact capacity for this model but it looks like there will be two packs on offer. Base models should be able to make around 250, while versions with a larger battery will be able to make up to 300 miles on a single charge. AWD models will come with the bigger battery only and should feature around 280 miles of range.

When it comes to charging, base models will come with an 11.5-kW Level 2, while the higher trims will come with a 19.2-kW Level 2. The former will be able to add around 34 miles of range per hour, while the latter should go up to 50. Also, DC fast-charging capability will be standard, with a charging speed of up to 150kW. This means that you may expect to add around 70 miles of range every 10 minutes with this charger.
