2021 Nissan X-Trail Redesign, Photos, Release Date

The X-Trail, also known as Rogue in North America, has been one of the company’s most important models for years and as we are talking about the most competitive segment in the automotive industry, the upcoming redesign seems like a natural thing, even though the current generation has been around for less than seven years. Simply, the demands of potential buyers are getting higher every year, so the 2021 Nissan X-Trail is coming with big improvement, even though all the changes are evolutionary.

The Japanese manufacturer sticks to a proven formula. Therefore, Nissan X-Trail 2021 new model rides on the same but improved platform and features pretty similar dimensions. On the other side, it comes with completely new styling, as well as with a significantly improved interior design. Furthermore, we count on improvements in terms of powertrain, although the company is still quiet on this matter. The new model should hit the market by the end of the year.

Things redesign is mostly an evolution of the previous model but it brings significant improvements in all aspects. On one side, we are still talking about the familiar CMF architecture, but this platform has been significantly updated and now provides a much better driving experience. The new design also brings improvements in terms of efficiency, as the new model is also lighter.

Interestingly, the new model features the same wheelbase, while it’s a little bit shorter than its predecessor. However, that doesn’t mean the new Nissan X-Trail 2021 dimensions will have any negative impact on interior room and comfort. This redesign brings notable improvements in this aspect as well, while another thing that comes to mind is the electrification. According to some sources, the new platform supports electrification as well. Therefore, we definitely count on a PHEV version in the future, maybe even on the all-electric models. However, such variants definitely won’t be ready for the initial launch.

2021 Nissan X-Trail Engines

As we’ve just mentioned, electrified versions probably won’t be ready for the initial launch. On the other side, most of the current engines will carry on. For example, a well-known 2.5-liter four-cylinder unit has already been confirmed for the North American Rogue and we have no doubt it will be offered for the Australian Nissan X-Trail 2021 new model.

The same engine will be offered in several more markets but not in Europe. There you may count on two familiar turbocharged gasoline engines. The first one is a  1.3-liter unit, which will probably be tuned to around 160 horsepower. A bigger 1.6-liter turbo-four will also get a power boost, which may go all-away to 200 horsepower, though we still don’t know the exact numbers. Naturally, you may count on a diesel version in this part of the world and that should be a familiar 1.7-liter dCi unit, which currently puts out around 150 horsepower.

Both automatic and manual transmission options will be in the offer.

This redesign will bring loads of interesting novelties and among them, the new styling looks particularly interesting. We’ve already seen rendering photos and they show a pretty serious look, which is characterized by a new front face, which comes with new lighting groups and more massive grille. The whole crossover looks bolder, while muscles from the sides are pretty easy to notice. The new SUV looks more rugged than before, even though the dimensions are pretty much the same. Interestingly, the new model sits slightly lower to the ground. Also, there are new 17- and 19-inch wheels in the offer.

Interior

Of course, this redesign also brings a completely new cabin. From what we can see on photos, the new cabin looks far more opulent than before. Still, we have to say that the outgoing model looks pretty good from the inside as well. The new dashboard utilizes finer materials and more attractive lines, while the flat-bottomed steering wheel brings an additional sporty flavor. A digital instrument cluster will be in the offer, while the center stack is highlighted by a new tablet-like touchscreen and lots of physical controls.

When it comes to the interior space, the company promises improvements compared to the previous generation, even though the size is pretty much the same. Still, there is a new rear suspension setup that won’t just have a positive effect on ride quality, but on the interior space as well. We count on additional inches in legroom in the second row, as well as additional cubic feet in the cargo area.
